Question does your surround view have front camera?

Hey folks,

I assume all of yours doesn't. It doesn't come in F80,82, and 83. I was driving my buddy's C63 and his 360 surround view is quite nice to have in urban city.

Below is a X6M and It has a camera infront of the bumper.

No M4 has it. I suppose it was too costly to implement this technique in the front bumper for a not so big amount of cars.

There is no dedicated front bumper camera on F8x car bodies, but between the view though the front windshield and the bumper sensors, I never had too much difficulty driving and parking. When in doubt, you can pull forward until the red rectangular bar is shown on the picture courtesy of the proximity sensors. That usually leaves a bit less than 1 foot to spare.

I had true 360* with front view in another car and it was great.

It would be nice if the F8X had a front camera. I do not think the proximity sensors pick up parking blocks...can anyone confirm?

Many times it does not. I would not trust the red block to pop up. I tend to be conservative and leave a lot of room in the front. Not worth the risk.

Yes, I agree. I am also being conservative. I have a lot of practice with my M5, because it's parking sensors definitely don't sense parking blocks...and my Z4M coupe, which has a lower front spoiler than all of them and has no parking sensors - thankfully it is short!

I so wish they'd stick a camera somewhere in the front. I can't tell how close the front of my car is to thing.

They don't really pick up all blocks or curbs, but what you can do is first make sure you visually check when you're pulling in and the front side cameras have these handy marker lines that correlate to the very front of the vehicle. If you use those as a guide, you'll never hit a block.
I'm out of the country so I can't take a picture at that moment but I'm sure someone on here knows what I'm talking about.

Thanks. I haven't really figured out what to do with the side cameras, so I will play with them a bit.

You can use your front side view cameras to determine where the curb is. Works great on a flat surface. Stop when the yellow lines are on the curb and you are about 8 inches short of it.

On F3x and F8x cars there's not "surround view," only "top and side view."

This is great advice. I never thought of using them for this. And to think they were good only for driving down any road near an ocean or to take a peak at the jerk beside you without him knowing.....

To be honest, I wish those side view cameras had an even wider field of view (so even better for the above use)

I know this thread is ancient but damn I've had my car for a couple years and never realized that's how you can use it when front-parking. I always thought they were useless cameras :/.
