Alarm system: Pandora or Ghost

Will be looking at getting a M4/ M3 in next few months.

I know about the issue of theft of these cars.

One of my mates has Ghost on his car.

Wondering if anyone on here has the Pandora system. If so how is it.

Whats the feedback on the Ghost system too.

Have clifford on my e46 m3.

Thanks.

Ive got a Pandora BT version. Go for the version 2.

It has more options including turning off the annoying chirps .

So far so good. Passive immobiler and good app. £100 or so more then Ghost.

Hi, I have had the Ghost on a previous car and it worked really well so put it on my M4 2 weeks ago (Had the car about a month). It actually works much better on BMW (installer said the same thing) and its pretty quick to key in the code and start the engine without much delay

Hey, Thank for the reply and advice.

One of my mates has it on his F80 m3. Price is good for it.

Have a Ghost on my Comp Conv.

Fit and forget really. Simple user choice of steering wheel buttons to disable.

I have mine set for gear selection disable rather than pre-start. Means you can start the car and sit without needing to disengage the device.

Mark from Safe and Sound in Leeds was fantastic. Quick, professional and gave me great piece of mind for ongoing support if I needed it. Not had any issues.

Easy valet mode for servicing etc...

I do forget to switch it off sometimes when I'm in a rush... But that's age.. and it puts up with my stupidity very well... :-)

I'd recommend it and Mark wholeheartedly.

I had a Pandora Mini BT on my recently sold M240i convertible.

I loved it ! The ADR driver tag is tiny, not much bigger than an SD card ! It works brilliantly and unlike the Ghost, no key presses to push with an alarm included too !

I had the original version of the Mini BT but I could turn the beeps/chirps off. It is very adaptable to your needs and the fact is was a decent immobiliser as well as alarm swayed me to buy it over a Ghost.

It works off the BMW fob so no need for anything other than the normal BMW key and the ADR tag. I had anti highjack enabled so kept the ADR tag with my house keys. Someone pinches the keys and not my house keys + the car won't start/alarm goes off. Someone drags me out of the car of takes my keys off me when in the car and it shuts down 1 minute up the road, slowly coming to a halt with the alarm sounding.

I am torn atm whether to just have another Mini BT on my new car or upgrade to the Pandora Light Pro.

The Ghost comes with the Ghost app so you dont need to press buttons every time Turn the app on when using the car and off when finished

You can also add I,D tags to the ghost if needed

www.procarkits.co.uk do most of Scotland and the north of england

Isn't the app not recommended due to the distance the bluetooth works at ?

Tags ok, app not so ?

The Bluetooth drops connection after around 20 feet away
But its recommended to turn it off when you are finished using the vehicle.

With the ghost -11 you can have it working on 2 mobiles
and everyone takes there mobile everywhere now.

That to me is a pita. Having to mess around turning bluetooth on and off would not suit me ... nor would the 20 feet range. It's a shame it can't be adjusted to less.

The Ghost App worries me in that if someone gets your phone with the keys (purse, bag etc) then the Ghost is effectively by-passable. I'm not worried about that convenience as it's more to go wrong.. Plus I believe it's not recommended by the installers. The Pandora remote shutdown seems a neat solution if that happens.

There's no tag to consider with the Ghost and it's a pretty fit an forget solution if that's of benefit. The button presses take as long as it takes to press 4 buttons...

The only thing missing from the Ghost is the anti-hijack if the car is running and you get jumped.

Swings and roundabouts as they say...
