2019 M4 CS - Upgrading Audio

So I'm contemplating pulling the trigger on a 2019 M4 CS, yet one thing I'm not too happy about is how they reduced the # of speakers to save weight. With that being said, I was wondering what kind of options any of you could recommend for upgrading the sound system?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

You should try living with the M4cs first before you contemplate upgrading the sound system. For my part, I was happily surprised with the sound in my M4cs. Historically, I would always opt for the higher end sound system in all my previous car purchases. I was a bit disappointed when I learnt about the "downgraded" sound system in the M4cs when it was launched. However, after taking ownership, I discovered that the sound system isn't half as bad and I don't miss the HK system at all. I also discovered that it has more speakers than what is visually discernible. There are in fact hidden speakers inside the door/panel cards front and rear.

CanAutM3 can you confirm the actual number/layout of the speakers in the M4cs? Haven't seen one in person, and seeing conflicting info...

I've been trying to figure this out as well.

Visibly, it has:
2 "tweeters" in the A-Pillar
1 center dash speaker
2 speakers on the rear parcel shelf
2 underseat subwoofers

However, I do feel some mid-bass vibes through the door cards, so perhaps there are speakers in there?

I actually like the sound system. It doesn't envelop you with sound since it doesn't have a traditional door speaker for mids range duties, but it does sound very decent with the A-pillar tweeters and center speaker providinh sound stage on the dash, with the bass hitting some surprisingly low notes without being overly boomy/amped up with mid-bass, and the highs not coming off as brassy like on other name-brand upgraded oe sound systens.

Figured I'd respond with an update: I was VERY pleasantly surprised with the quality of the sound system in the M4CS. Coming from my '17 Base M4, I notice very little difference. Sure, the sound system in the CS is not as good as the HK system in the Base/COMP models, but it is surprisingly impressive!

Possible? Yes. Feasible? Individual decision, but can't imagine. Requires significant new wiring or surgery, coding, running of the plastic optical fiber for the MOST. And unless you get lucky finding everything on eBay you'd end up spending more than you'd spend to get a significantly better aftermarket system.

I came from an M4 Comp with HK into a CS and honestly the difference isn't nearly as bad as I assumed it would be. You still have a similar equalizer control to the HK system (which I wasn't expecting).

A retrofit doesn't seem worth it. If you were planning to spend that kind of money then you might as well go aftermarket sound system.
