Residual value questions
So my 3yr/36k lease is up. My 2016 M3 ZCP is due back tomorrow. The residual is $54,076. My car is really clean w/ 11,000 miles. Here's my questions:
1. If I take it to carmax am I good to go with any offer over the $54k residual? 2. Is a clean 2016 ZCP ($85,000 MSRP) w/ low miles going to fetch more then $54k from a volume dealer like carmax? I should note that my next M is being leased from an out of state dealer since South FL dealers are not my cup of tea. Anything I'm overlooking here? |

You'll want to add the $350 disposition fee on top of your buy-out, and that is what you'll want to aim for at the minimum.
If you want, you can try calling BMWFS and extending it further, they may allow it for a certain period of time if you say you are shopping for another BMW and you have not found one yet.

Way more often than not it is not worth buying your vehicle when the lease is over. You're better off getting a vehicle from the current year and give or take having the same monthly payment.

2. You'll get offered 45 to 49k at CarMax, or any dealer. Thats what it's worth right now. Just return the car. BMW hopes most people buy out the lease... but most of the time it's an awful deal (as seen here and with all F8X leases) but they are counting on people going over mileage or just saying "eh well ill just keep it" |
