Curious my steering wheel just started to do the same thing and honestly laughed at whoever mentioned callous hands causing it because mine are pretty ripped up thanks to Crossfit.

That said the deterioration is happening at the 12 position which I rarely use so I'm not sure how, not to mention if anything its where my palms sit and they are quite silky.

I'm going to try the dealership route because my 335 didn't have this issue after 2 yrs of ownership and my M3 is only 3 yrs old with 23k on it so it's weird. Not to mention it happened rather suddenly and I can't trace back to any changes. It sits in a garage every day.
