M4 LCI

Hi Kevin:

I'll be receiving my order from EAS this week and have remote coding teed up. I did somewhat of a trial run in anticipation but am already stumped on how to unplug the white harness connector from the REM Module? It does not simply pull out . Don't want to force it, what is the trick?

Well that was easy took 1 hour. The insert wiring into the REM harness was the most complicated for me . The empty slots are not actually numbered but each row has guiding numbers for you to figure out the sequence to rthe empty slot. The photos in this post really help you figure that out.

So I will get my remote coding done this weekend and activate the Inner blinkers/reverse as well as the blinking.

Almost there!

Coding Failure!

I attempted a remote coding today and the vendor told me that he did the HELC but my software was too old and I have to go to BMW and have them update the software.

Is he legit or do I go to another coder?

I really don't want to go to the Dealer and have them update me with my new harness and LCI"s and tell them to update me for it?

Advice ice is appreciated!

I've come across a couple of cases on M4s with very early I-levels (ie: usually on those with no updates since delivery) that need the REM software updated before coding can be applied. I didn't list it in the DIY since it doesn't come up often, but will make a quick note.

It's not common, but will be required if coding is not activating the inner lamps. Bring the REM software up to current and all should be well.

Coding for LCI M$ Retrofit

Tom: I was lucky enough to get referred to Alex@Alpine he is a the rock star of coding for BMW IMO. My Software was 6/14 version but he did not send me to the Dealer like the last coder, he did the upgrade and then coded for LCI Retrofit as well as other very cool options.

I highly recommend !

I also added HELC, but it seems like I have an old REM build on my 15 M4... Can anybody help me upgrading the REM module?

If you are doing your own coding, you can update the module also. Check the coding sections as there are DIYs on how to update modules, depending on your particular comfort level. Another option would be to check the regional section, there may be someone local to you that can update the module for you.

Otherwise, dealership can perform can update also.

Hopefully the DIY has helped with those getting their kits tackling it on their own. For those who haven't - here's a few installs for motivation:
