I have a Maserati Gran Turismo S and that car has heavier, tighter steering than the BMW M4 CS.
It's the first time I've driven a BMW M4 and this happens to be the CS version. I expected a very stiff, hard suspension but this one is quite comfortable. The Maserati has much better road feel through the steering and suspension compared to the M4, but the M4 does feel a lot lighter (of course). Wish the M4 was more hyper reactive like an Alfa Romeo through the corners, because it felt lazy by comparison. M340xi was more reactive by comparsion to the M4 CS. I had much more confidence in the M340xi than the M4. |

Maserati, I don't believe I have ever seen one on a track day.

I rarely even see Maseratis period. People are catching on to their BS. No one wants an overpriced POS Chrysler and when you get into grand turismo pricing, literally every other competitor in that price range is better.

Just attended the MTOWN event and test drove a M340i, M2 Comp and M5. The M2 comp is better than the M340i in every damn way possible, maybe except for carrying my daughter and my mother.
The M2 COMP is loads of fun. My favorite car I drove that day, besides my own (modified) M4 of course. Stock for stock, M2 comp >>>>> most fun car in the entire BMW lineup... M5 = God's hand pushing you to accelerate M340i is a great car - just not an M car. |

Ok so my 2 cents having just driven the M340 and the M2 comp.
the M2 was cool, the steering wheel is nice. It sounds good. It's quick but has some turbo lag in my opinion. It didn't throw you in the seat as I would've expected. It did handle well, but felt not as raw as my M3. It's a nice size, but if you are gonna have passengers it's tight. It felt like it was tight with handling. The price is nicer than an m3/M4, especially used. Totally fine car. Didn't LOVE it. Prefer the M3 M340 Was cool. Felt big. But not in a good way. It was fast but had noticeable turbo lag and in my opinion lacked any raw power. It handles much better than the F30 340, but I don't feel like it was anything special. It was comfy. The digital display cluster I thought was disorganized and dizzying, I'm sure you get used to it. On paper, this is an amazing car, in practice it comes up short. To me it's nowhere near as raw and fun as an M3. It's a great car, and people will like it. But there is still a big difference in performance and feel to the F80. So I would disagree with those who think the M340 is "enough car." It is enough car for many, but not for those who want an M3/4. Again, my opinion |
