Seating position, with helmet on...
Anyone else struggling to find a decent seating position when wearing your helmet? I've got a CS, so I already have the extra headroom from the CF roof, but it feels like the headrest pushes my helmet too far forward for me to be comfortable.

I feel the headrest pushes my head too far forward as is...and it’s worse with a helmet like you. My ‘track’ seating position is different than my street setting, and for it I have the seat reclined a touch more and that seems to help...but not ideal.

I’m big, tall (6’4”), and have long torso. Because I like to be close to the steering wheel, my helmet was pretty much lightly pressing against the roof on my CF M4 I had. I worked fine, but not ideal. In this video you can see my helmet is basically just behind the visor.

I took out the headrest and put it on backwards. It's a bit skewed for DD, but I don't really rest my head against it, and it gave me the clearance I needed with my helmet on.

I like to seat very close to steering wheel as well with steering wheel a bit lowered so that *middle of laps touch the bottom of the wheel (and two knees touches the bottom of steering wheel shaft) if my legs are not stretched toward pedals. I set the seat pretty higher with back reclined for helmet space for my vision of the road below and forward. (basically mirroring the setup I am forced to have in my Miata) But I am not that tall so it's not that difficult. One issue is it's hard to see the speedo so I have to set the wheel a bit higher than lowest position as the hud is pretty much useless with poor refresh rate during full braking.

I edited my longish post.
tl:dr don’t skimp out if you do that and keep in mind tech rules for the car might change from HPDE to race tech because you changed a safety item to be non stock Don’t mean to be a downer but I’ve seen some super sketchy setups posted on this forum from time to time of cars I wouldn’t get into (eg sketch quality seats, inappropriate shoulder harness mounting angle, unknown quality seat rails, etc etc) |

Seat slightly reclined and helmet gently resting against headliner.
I actually like my F82 seat over E92 M3 because it lets me feel more comfortable closer to the wheel than in my E92. I remember not feeling comfortable with my seat adjusted to the point where wrist joint was on the wheel, but in F82 I have that exact hand position and feels perfect. |
