Anyone using a different coilover suspension than stock?
Hi Guys,
Anyone using a different coilover setup than stock (KW) such as Moton, ATS, MCS, JRZ, Ohlins? If so are the front wheel carriers compatible with aftermarket shocks? Thanks, Steve |

Lots. By "carriers" are you referring to front strut mounts?

I'm referring to the wheel carrier that holds the strut bottom and the wheel hub
assembly. I attached a picture. It's designed to change the geometry of the front suspension (not sure about the specifics) for the GTS compared to the stock M3/M4. By the same token, i'm not sure if you were to take the GTS front shocks and put them on the stock m3/m4 wheels carriers, if that would work or if it would screw up the geometry (even with the addition of camber plates). |

This link quotes BMW stating that the wheel carrier (called swivel bearing) was made to
accommodate the shock tube. https://jalopnik.com/the-bmw-m4-gts-...out-1793973378 "When we asked, one of BMW’s technicians simply said that this is a specifically designed “swivel bearing/wheel hub” made to accommodate the shock absorber tube." |

ok I figured it out.. it looks like the gts front shock doesn't have a tapered body/sleeve like the stock front shocks or aftermarket solutions. The gts front shock body is uniform all the way down. I guess you would remove the sleeve on the aftermarket solutions in order to install them on the gts swivel bearing/wheel carrier then?

Didn't know the gts ran a billet knuckle
Wonder if there's any tangible advantage in the unsprung weight in terms of turn in sharpness/feel Is the knuckle alu on regular m3/4? |

The knuckle on the regular m3 is cast aluminum. The GTS is billet aluminum. There may be some weight advantages however I've heard alot of owners complaining about cracked knuckles that need to be replaced under warranty. They are about $3k a piece so not cheap.
