Will the M2 Competition upgraded steel brakes option fit the M3/M4?
Will these be a direct bolt on for us? Anyone know?

I have a hunch these will also be offered on the M4 soon.

It would be great if we could just get the front and move the stock fronts to the rear

This have been asked and answered several times before: Front calipers do not fit the rear carrier, or the rotors. Last edited by Encanto; 05-05-2018 at 05:34 AM.. |

Standard rotors and calipers have the same P/N for M2, M3 and M4 so the upgraded rotors (400/380mm) and calipers (grey instead of gold 6/4 pistons CCB calipers) of the M2 Competition will fit the M3 and M4.
There is no P/N yet for the M2 Competition brake booster. |

The significantly greater piston area.

Let's be honest here...for those of us who actually track our Ms, is there a need for upgraded brakes, other than pads and fluid?
I mean, seriously, Itrack my M, on r-comp tires, and with a tune for more HP, and have never had any brake fade. I get the improved looks of a bigger piston, but can't see the performance need for upgraded brakes. |

I personally was very unhappy with stock brakes and upgraded fluid/pads on the local tracks I run out here. They would do well for a few laps, but once I really started pushing for 3-4+ fast laps it was inevitable that I would experience brake fade, especially on tracks with heavy braking zones. I think the only definitive thing I could say is once you switch over to full racing slicks, upgraded brakes are definitely a necessity. Anything before that, it's really user specific. |

I wouldn't waste the money on bigger steel brakes tbh, but I'm still keen to see how much this kit is
IMO use the funds instead to go ceramic retrofit Also the f80 ceramic kit is quite appealing in these current times of manufacturers taking the cheap route and leaving base model steel brakes in rear like Audi, or use a ceramic rotor out back but with a cheap single slider calliper like amg, even on their gtr I don't track my cars, but I do do hill runs, sometimes over consecutive full days, and I just like the piece of mind knowing the stopping power will always be there when I need it Plus I prefer the maintenance and cleanliness as a hobby detailer, probably even more so |

These upgraded brakes can be an interresting avenue for those seeking more braking power from an iron setup. The main drawback IMO is that it requires 19" wheels minimum, therefore increasing tire cost (19" track tires are a fair bit more expensive than 18").

I turned the stock calipers black and and roasted every type of pad I put on the car at Laguna. The mass and power of this chassis is not appropriately matched to the oem brake setup IMO. |

I've turned my front calipers black, yes, they look pretty cool now. But on Nitto NT01 ttires (pretty wide ones, 275 f/305 rear) and with PFC-08 pads, on some long tracks (Miller Motorsports Park, outside configuration, long front straight, hitting 165 on the front straight), I have not managed to get any fade, nor burn out pads, and I drive pretty aggressively.

I may be mistaken but the M2 Competition upgraded brakes look to be F8x CCB calipers with 400mm/380mm iron rotors.
Not only should they be a direct fit for an upgrade of standard brakes, but also an oem iron rotor option for CCB owners. |
