Seems like half the posters are ready to write a check/deposit on the M4 based on looks alone. You guys need to pump the brakes a bit. Doesn't anyone care to see what BMW is going to do with the engine?

Regardless of what they do with the engine, you can count on BMW to make it better than the previous gen's M3. Excluding opinions regarding the engine, obviously. Most people will say that the new M3/M4 will never sound as good as the V8 found in the E9X M3. The renders are looking good though! But knowing the M4 won't be out until late 2014, and knowing that buying one won't be worth it until the second MY (probably 2015 or 2016, due to inevitable recalls and issues) puts me off pretty badly. I'm really ready to buy a GT-R right now and either buy the new M4 or the new R36 GTR that's supposed to be out around the same time. I still have faith that this upcoming M3/M4 will be on wicked car, it's just the wait that's killing me, and I'm sure many others as well

Given how drastically different the new 4 series design is from its predecessor from current 3 series, the renders seem too conservative, adhering to the last gen. M design style.

It really is the perfect mix of e46 and e92. Both are incredible ///M cars and this ///M car will be a different kind of incredible. A mix of innovation, styling and the evolving need for more performance and efficiency. Maybe not as raw as a naturally aspirated ///M, but powerful and evolved from the technology of an incredible brand.
Well done render! I will have one, probably after the first year cars are out and once all of the kinks are fully worked out of the first year lineup. There is no doubt that this car will be great.

I think this new angular look could work very well actually. I hope BMW keep the headlight assembly very similar to this. I like how it flows into the grilles. SCOTT, I know this bumper will appear on the M3 sedan, will this same bumper be on the M4 coupe or will they look different?

Looks are an essential part of a purchase and if the new M4 looks anything like this render, I'll be writing a check too! I think some of us believe that BMW will hit a home-run with this new car in terms of performance and handling. They continue to improve their cars over the years and they know the competition is heavy these days.

So what exactly is the difference between the M3 and the M4 going to be? Is the M3 going to be exclusively 4-door now, and the M4 just going to be the coupe version? That seems to be the difference between the 3er and the soon to be here 4er...

The engine for the M3/M4 is probably still under development and or testing. The engine specs for the regular 4 series concept we've seen have yet to be released, and sound like they won't be released until this coming Spring. I wouldn't expect to hear about the engine specs of the M3/M4 until after we see them in concept form.
