It's my understanding the M4 has more body stiffening particularly in the rear, tying the shock mounts together with a built in shock strut in the coupe. In the same article it said the M4 was designed to be quicker than the M3, just cuz. An M4 is not a 3 series car with two less doors.

Just a bit. It almost looks like an M4 with ricer-approved rolled fenders. My guess is the transition is more abrupt and pronounced here due to the 2 extra doors. In the M4 it would appear that they can use the rear quarter panels (?) to diffuse that transition.
