They're known for their shocks / struts, not a full coilover or springs. So not as popular on forums (who talks about replacement shocks) but back in the day, if you wanted a "sport suspension" on your euro car, you swapped out stock shocks for Bilsteins without thoughts.

A few observations...
If I understood correctly, the Bilstein guy said the product is not finished yet and will be in Q1/2016. Based on this I'd say we will have to wait a bit longer in the US. And second, roads in Germany are much smoother than in the US. No nasty expansion joints, rail crossing joints, butter smooth transitions for road works. I'll need to ride in a car equipped with this before committing, but damn this thing looks promising!

Can you find out what model sensors they switched them with? No reason the stock suspension wouldn't benefit from this...

Nice setup OP. Can you shed more light on price?
BTW, anyone find it strange that the springs are dated 11/2012?

This looks like a further development of the B16 Ride Control that was already offered for the E9x.
I can only hope the quality and durability has been substantially improved. Many people including myself have had very bad experiences with these. I will never buy anything from Bilstein due to this. Here's the link: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=788638

Of course I won't exclude Bilstein got these quality problems under control with the F8x pieces. I just wouldn't want to try and find out, personally.

That post link is from 2011. I'm quite sure A LOT has changed since then.

You might be surprised at how little really changes over time. I'm from the Audi camp and I remember quality problems with the PSS9 kit when it was first released for the TT. Bilstein's customer support in what I remember was ultimately a product defect issue was atrocious. Over time they did resolve the issues and obviously released many more fitments that people have been very happy with. The review linked above is similar background knowledge on their previous product launches and is helpful to those that would consider jumping on this band wagon.
New products are rarely everything they are advertised to be...at least initially. Whether they ever live up to the hype is a function of time and the company's commitment to the customer. Unless you want to be a guinea pig, it's sometimes better to wait and see how performance and reliability shakes out. Sincerely, Mr. Fencesitter |
