I suspect they left my car in the corner and just didn't work on it diligently. I had to finally get on their ass super hard this past Monday and I'm hoping I will get the car back this Friday. Now I'm torn btw buying an extended warranty and keeping the 992 (factory warranty expires in August 2025), or getting rid of it and not having to deal with the costs and hassles of Porsche ownership which makes the BMW tax feel like owning a Kia.

It's a bummer b/c I love my manual 992 S and I don't want to get an M3 manual since they are so slow and RWD only. If I get rid of my 992 and get the M3 Comp X, I'll probably also get rid of my X3 M40iX and get an Integra Type S for my manual transmission fix and having a hatchback to carry my bikes.
Meh, 2028 isn’t that far away. I’d wait for the new model. The AWD holeshot will get boring after a bit, then you’re left with an expensive, heavy, ugly vehicle. Unless you plan on modding the vehicle, in gear acceleration between the models is similar (even in comparison to F8x cars!). I’m waiting until 28 to see what they can come up with next. I sure wouldn’t trade a Porsche for a G80!

I know two guys in town who bought an xDrive G80 when they first came out. Neither lasted a year with the car. One is back in an F80 and the other has an E92. Both claim to be much happier. The xDrive G80s are just stupid expensive too. No way I’m paying that much for a car unless I love it and have to have it. Nothing about not owning a G80 keeps me up at night.

I ended up running against a G80 comp from a roll (I have a +4 psi boost tune) and was shocked how the G80 lost. I would assume we would be close but no. My tune brings my car to less HP than a G80 and it was as if I was a good 50 hp above him. I wonder if the weight of a G80 has something to do with it (i.e. power to weight ratio). I know from a dig things would be different but I expected better showing from the G80.

The power to weight ratio of the S58 working with the G8x chassis in general has been pinnacle BMW engineering. I say that because it puts down its power a lot better than our F8x does. I'd chalk it up to driver issue humbly as I've driven them on street and track over the years and it's only on track that mod for mod, my F87 does better.

It's a shame like others we're just sitting out till 2028 and praying the design has us yearning to get another one. I'm even contemplating on getting either a G90 or F95 to try something new until then.

G80/82 are dead to me, but I might get a G87 if I just cannot stand having the same car for so long. Before the ridiculousness of current vehicle pricing I'd flip/or buy another car every 18-24 months. I'm past that window with the CS now and really the only thing I'd consider is a G87. There is a nice blue 23 here in town with a 6MT and only 1K miles on it, I could get it for $59k. It's a total stripper though and doesn't have a sunroof. I'd require a sunroof in the car as it would be purely for fun and the CF roof is ridiculous on a car that heavy anyway.

I need to see an LCI in purple though, not sure I'd be able to walk away from one of those without at least trying to strike a deal.

Honestly, my issue with current cars is their shoving so much unnecessary things into it. Mainly German brands (gee I wonder WHY a lot of them are suffering). Just driving a simple Miata, that has barely changed since its first inception made me realize that is why I gravitate towards the Cayman so much. It is a simple car, Cayman/Boxsters are just old fashioned performance cars, much like the Maita.

Getting into a current BMW just makes my eye roll. I know I won't use half of the stuff BMW shoved into it. I wish car companies just go back to basics.

I can't disagree. Too much junk, too much weight, not enough fun. My Z4M Roadsters are still my favorite all time cars. I check all the time to see if one (06-08) pops up local in decent shape for $20k or so. Zero frills in that car, and all fun.
