  • No Oled rear lights offered as optional for M cars. BMW knows to offer options to their cars but have missed a sales opportunity here. even if it's an expensive option, there would be plenty of M owners who would pay for this exclusivity.
  • Interior could be better: big black plastic console around the shifter. Air vents look cheap (no metal finish like in many high end cars).
  • Design wise, I have to say that the round fog lights look very poor and are not well integrated to the design. Why not have an hexagonal shaped fog light?

The TFT instrument display (for M cars) and Touchscreen for me a the 2 major big misses and IMO unforgivable in the LCI.
1. It was the same case for F10 M5 and F12 M6. Digital display is only available for non-M models.

2. Touch screen is only for cars that have 10.25 inch screen. F30/F32 uses 8.8.

Hi. Not good enough BMW IMO...A refresh should have the latest tech even in option...

Even though these changes arent drastic I'm pretty salty that my brand new car will be here middle of February and will be outdated by July, lol.

Edit: You are correct. My mistake.

July 2015 was LTE map updates, HUD changes, and ConnectedDrive enhancements. In any case, although they were advertised by BMW as part of the 3/M3 LCI, they also applied to the 4/M4.

July 2016 was iDrive 5.0.
We have the same MY changes that you do, but we just don't use MY** as a generic term to describe them in general terms, but it's gaining popularity TBH.

And yes as I said I agreed with your general premise.

Touch screen sucks in cars. Its not intuitive while driving IMO.

Same here. My 2016 M3zcp built in April 2016 delivered in June does not have idrive 5. There are always changes - be happy with what you have especially when it is really good.

Agreed. I personally like dark wheels especially with Sakhir Orange. Thats my main reason for changing. The black 666m announcement is the only thing here that makes me mad. Shoulda been an option from the start.

At least you won't be paying a 35% import duty on it!

Yeah I know, I'm trying to be thankful but it's just annoying that there is a 4 month production stop or I would have waited. Another summer with a Hyundai was too much, lol

Just checked the new price list for Germany. My config got 400 euros cheaper (I think that's because of the 3400e connected-drive package being now standard for just 3000e more)
I think this should apply to all (german) F80 configs as I don't see any option getting a price increase.

BMW should do this kind of stuff more often. This LCI rocks!

Nah, if I feel that strongly about it in 12 months I'll just retrofit the headlights. I can't wait for the car. A few summers without having a fun car to play with/detail on the weekends bothered me way more than this LCI every could

I agree. the last 3 summers with my F8x have been fun. That first summer when the car was new the attention was crazy out here in GA.

But you didn't have LED tail lights, so the guys that waited 3 years for the LCI are obviously the true winners here....

Yeah, I had people following me in their cars with their cell phones out taking pictures that first summer. Haha... a little creepy. I can't image how bad it would have been with a AY or SO colored car.

That's for the ambient lighting. I don't think the dash lighting is configurable.

So are the new black 666m wheels actually more gunmetal? Looks like it in the configurator that was posted. I actually would have preferred those.

The new headlights are cleaner and look more modern but overall the full halos look better IMO, and are a signature BMW design.

Maybe they will go back to the original design at some point, kind of like how they did with the bumper/hood line.

Im happy i got my car when i did. Got to enjoy it, sometimes getting too much attention. With San marino blue/SO combo, ive even had one person crossing the street stop in the middle to take a pic!

I think i would be more dissapointed waiting for the new lci for the F80 since a whole new design is just around the corner.

Yea I'm sorry.

BMW dropped the ball. OSS got it right and this was over a year ago now, but this blows the LCI away. I much prefer the angled hexagon shape to the LCI shape. That horizontal line doesn't flow at all with the bumper like these do.
