Congratulations on your new M4 buddy.
I’d suggest looking into older threads where this topic has been discussed to death. I’ve personally played around with akrapovic and m performance and really like the combination of the latter with the akrapovic catless downpipes. That’s just my 2 cents. Check out videos on youtube and see what you like best |

Yeah its pretty subjective. Everyone will have different tastes. MPE and Akrapovic seem to be universally liked though. I personally like the muffler bypass system from Fabspeed...but like I said it's all subjective.

Akrapovic would be my first choice, but Supersprint sounds also nice.

Single midpipe don't touch OEM downpipe it sounds beautiful no CEL and under $1k
For some reason it sounds better on non comp idk why If you're comp I'd dish the $$ out and get MPE AWE track is good too |

Hey man, what are you running with the fabspeed midpipe? I recently ordered one but I’m kinda scared that the downpipes+midpipe combo might not sound too good.

Start with unplugging the valves and getting an AA single midpipe. That'll open up the sound a good bit and only costs ~$800.
If you want more from there, get some downpipes and a tune. |

I know there are a lot of good options , but I currently am running a Dinan free flow. Nice sounding exhaust ! I would buy again.

I bought both my Dinan and Active Autowerks mid pipes from members here on the forum. I would definitely buy again.
Just for price comparison Dinan paid $1700. I think retail is $2400 Active Autowerks I paid $580 I think retail is $1000 Good luck w/ your decision. |

How loud do you want?
M4 has M Performance Exhaust. Quiet in efficient but loud in Sport & Sport+. On lifting the throttle, lots of pops, crackle and gun shots when the exhaust valves are open. M2 has VRSF catless downpipes and Eisenmann valved Exhaust, no mid cats. It’s ratelly with the exhaust valves closed. With the exhaust valves open, it is straight piped and loud has hell. Sounds glorious on up and down shifts with the DCT.

I'm stock currently, but have heard others with the fabspeed system and they sound awesome. I had a fabspeed sportcat and bypass exhaust on my M2 and it sounded amazing...but that was the N55 engine.

I currently have stock DP's with an AA Single Mid Pipe and their Mad Max rear section and I love it.

If you like the stock/typical S55 sound: Single Mid-Pipe
If you like more traditional turbo 6 cylinder sound (think N55, B58, Nissan GTR, etc.): Equal Length Mid-Pipe Stock muffler and cats sound great with either
