Shrinking market of the M3?
I saw this recently and I thought I see a downward trend.
(Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_M3) Scroll all the way down to the end to see TABLE (Production volumes). Looks like production peaked for the E46 M3 (the golden age of the M3) and then the downward trend sets in.

I think this is to be expected. More and more folks are moving away from sedans/coupes and into SUV's. Especially now with the popularity of performance SUV's the numbers will probably continue to dwindle for the sedan/coupe. Sad where automotive industry is going.

we dont have the complete f82 M4 production numbers. the F80 M3 was only in production from 2015-2018 here.
interesting that the e92 did not sell as well as the e46. might be due to higher price ?

The G80 ain’t helping either. If I had to get another car now, I’d likely get an X3M. I’d have to give up the 6MT but I’ll never own a current abomination G8x.

It's probably due to the missing numbers of F82 production numbers. We know how many F80s are built but not F82s.

Like others have said, the exact f82 sales numbers aren't out yet. But here's an estimate so far. Based on this the f8x generation is the best selling generation so far.
