Missing ambient light above cup holders on F82

Is the F82 supposed to have this light? I didn't see a cable/light on mine, just the empty hole...

I pulled the head unit on my 2016 M4 Coupe to install a second USB port and noticed that there was no light or cable. What exactly did this light illuminate? My console is illuminated by red lights in the overhead console. Does the MY 2015 have those overhead lights? My wife's 2011 335is Coupe also has red lights in the overhead console.

That LED light can be retrofitted for MY2016/2017 M4 and MY2016 M3. For the MY2017-on M3 and MY2018 M4 there is no bracket for that LED light as the center trim was completely redesigned to support an USB port.

I'd actually be interested in retrofitting the panel with the USB port. I have a dash mount for my phone and that USB port would be more convenient than the one under the glove box.

BTW, I looked on realoem but I couldn't figure out where to start drilling down to find those parts.

You only need the trim. Rest of parts posted are for those that want to add a second USB port.

I think that I may get the trim piece and another USB port and tap into a power source somewhere so that I can just use the USB port for power for my phone.

Ok, I think that the part number I need for the USB port and Full Black Merino Leather is 51458071514, but I checked getbmwparts.com and ecstuning.com and neither one has the part. I did a Google search for "BMW 51458071514" and couldn't find it available anywhere.

Ok, I must have mistyped it when I posted the part number above, but I had done a search for 51458071513 and can't find it available anywhere in the US.

The lower dash extra USB can't be fitted to the pre 07/15 cars with NBT. The socket only fits with the later NBT evo.

This is the mod that I did to run an additional iPod/portable hard drive in the glovebox, or have it available to a passenger that wants to plug in their device for their music.

I want to add the additional USB port on the dash panel as a power-only source. I did a similar mod in my 2006 Z4 M Roadster, which didn't have any USB ports. I added a USB port to a panel below the HVAC controls and powered it from a switched 12V source.
