What is the most popular tune for m4
I'm used to using Cobb tuner on my gtr. Easy to load and switch maps. Now that I got an m4 I'm not sure which tuner and stage to go for. Current mods. Cut back Akrapovic and 20 inch forged wheels and bigger tires. Please any advice would be greatly appreciated. I also found Dinan stage one used locally for 350. Any ideas what is best

Ecutek (from the GT-R) world is also coming into popularity as well.

Any flash tune will beat the crap out of a piggy back.
I would recommend Bootmod3. You'll need an OBD2 to enet cable and an enet to lightning adapter if you want to flash on your phone. Also get a CTEK lithium ion battery charger and hook it up before doing the first full flash.

Another thing to keep in mind is you can resell your BM3 license. You cannot do that with MHD.

I would agree with the above that I think Bootmod3 (BM3) and MHD probably share the greatest percentage of the tunes on the F8X platform. A lot of people swear by both of them. There are definitely others, but I think those two are the most popular. BM3 license can only be resold once. I picked up a second-hand BM3 license a few years back for $300, and I felt that was good value. At that price point, I didn't care that I can't resell it. If you pick up a second-hand BM3 license, confirm that you are buying from the original owner who actually has the right to transfer it to you. I've def seen people on this forum that prefer MHD to BM3, however, especially on their OTS maps (the standard maps you can load). Honestly, I think you'll be very happy with either, and at those price points, it's not unreasonable to try both if you are really curious. As for staging, BM3 would recommend that you be on Stg 1 unless you have an aftermarket catless or high flow catted downpipe. However, there are also people here who run BM3 Stage 2 with the original downpipe without issue. If you do this, however, my understanding is that you should set your burble levels to very low (or off).

I thought flashing would void your EOM warranty in case something goes south with the engine. Am I wrong.
I am tempted but I will not take that risk until the warranty expires if it is correct. Otherwise I am all for it. |

its HIGHLY unlikely a stage 1 tune will fuck your engine.

Bootmod3 for the win.
$350 for a used license gets you same as a new license (but you can't resell it). There are a couple free tunes to try before you pick a paid-for OTS tune with the 1 included credit.

But warranty and peace of mind for many individuals is a real thing. I went with CarBahn during my covered warranty and then switched out to BM3 when it expired. Not that I was going to hoon on the car but at my point in life, there were other factors used in my decision making. |

I've used the Burger piggyback until I needed to delete the cold start and went with BM3.TBH I couldn't tell much difference, then again the way this car pulls you won't notice a small increase/ decrease in power, the piggyback was surprisingly buttery smooth, then again my car was at the time tune/ intakes/ MPE so stock for the most part.
I agree with using a laptop, I've read of some people having issues which probably happens to one person out of 1000 but bricking my ECU is not something I would risk. Used a similar cable hellokitty posted up there^ https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...f_=as_li_ss_tl

I know the $10-20 OBD2-ENET cables are pretty bulletproof but I've got to vote for the $75 Kies WiFi adapter. It connects BM3 wirelessly to my iPhone for flashing and logging and I've never had any problems (I'm on iOS 15.2). There's no cable to get underfoot or route across the dash/console. It also works with the other flashing softwares like XHP, MHD, etc. For any last-resort needs there is an Ethernet jack on the back and when you plug in an ENET patch cable it skips the internal electronics and becomes the bulletproof OBD2-ENET.
With the old cable I kept getting pissed when my ENET plastic clip broke off, and I had to hold the cable in the laptop's RJ45 jack every time.
