Using other Make's OE tires for winter
I am looking to get Michelin Alpin 5 255/35/19s for winter tires for my F80 CS. I found a place that carries them buy they are Mercedes OE.
I have found the Michelin alpin PA4 (same size) OE BMW but wanted to get the newer alpin 5s. Does anyone think running other Make's OE tires would be an issue?

Tires are tires; the only difference between Mercedes's Alpin 5 tire vs the standard Alpin 5 tire is that Mercedes put a little more development into the tread pattern or compound and therefore their tires will be a bit more expensive than the standard Alpin 5. Same goes for any BMW spec tires. Neither are required to be used for any specific car, barring any changes to the load limit, but any tire shop you'd go to you would ensure the load limit of the tire is acceptable for the car.
Bottom line: should be fine. |
