Educate me. From a dead stop, how do you creep forward a couple inches? Do you have to be in D or with minimal shift speed?

I did figure out that I can slap it into neutral below 12 mph for a smooth stop instead of having the engine fight me.
From a dead stop, tap the gas pedal and release the gas. The DCT settings do not matter. The car will then slowly creep forward until you brake. It is great for stuff like garage parking.

All of my previous cars were manuals, and I was one of those guys that thought DCT was a glorified automatic transmission. I switched to DCT a couple of weeks ago, and loving it! The shifts are intoxicating to say the least. I just hope I don't get bored in a few months.

Just one quick observation, though I have been driving it in manual mode all the time, using the paddle shifters was awkward for me, never could get comfortable. I switched to using the shifter and find it much more natural, similar to my previous 6MT. Just my 2 cents.

Hahaha! I thought my wife and I were the only ones that did that!

Before I had the M4, there was plenty of room in the garage when I had my S2000 or my Z4 M Roadster in the garage. Now that we have to fit the M4 in the garage with her 335is we have both have to fit within a specific space to be able to get in and out of our cars, so we measured out "boxes" with painters tape. Since then we've found some black and white checkered tape to replace the painters tape!

I know what you mean. The paddles are handy, but if I want to go to neutral or switch into D mode to auto-stop the engine at a long light or shift in a tight turn I have to use the stick anyway so I still go back and forth... and it helps maintain "muscle memory" of shifting for when I go back to any of our other cars.
What really mixes up my hands is shifting with paddles close to when I need to use the signal or wiper stalks. Mostly the results are benign but I have accidentally grabbed a big handful of downshift on more than one occasion!

The latest DCT iteration in the F80 is better than in their previous E90's. I didn't have any regrets and besides I have another MT car that has a better MT transmission.

Ive done the opposite and went from a DCT e92M to 6 speed F80.

This is a weekend car so the manual was a better decision for me.

I've always been a manual guy but I am now a total dual clutch box convert. My C2S is pdk and my M3 is DCT and no regrets whatsoever. They shift faster than you can plus I love the noises they make. I always use the paddles and never use auto modes on either car. I guess it's kinda like shifting masturbation in a way but whatever I find the dual clutch box just as engaging the same as I would rowing gears. Plus you can left foot brake on the track if that's your thing. Im not going back anytime soon.
