My 2016 needed a transmission replacement (DCT) around 26000 miles. clunking noise on while going from 2 to 3 gear on auto shift (and subsequently on manual shift) around 30 MPH. Dealership technician heard it during ride along, could replicate it himself during his evaluation and discussed with M head technician in Germany. Decision was might be more difficult to seek out problem rather so just replaced it.

Just got my car back from fixing the steering wheel vibration issues. They replaced both front ceramic brake rotors and pads plus wheel hub and bearings. Without warranty would be almost $12k lol. But the last 65 miles test drive kinda concerned me not sure if it was necessary.

This is my 6th BMW and I've been lucky I guess. I had a single light bulb go out on my 08 e92. That was it.

Didn't realize this thread covered all models. I had a 98 540i that I drove for 17 years, but that would need a separate thread just for itself.

Can you elaborate on the clunking noise? Sometimes when I down shift from 4th to 3rd or 3rd to 2nd at rpms between 2k and 3.5k i get a clunk, but not very loud and barely feel able. Is this normal?

Wow. That's interesting. Those prices, while still shocking, are significantly less than what I got quoted by my dealer here in MA for the exact same thing.

Apologies to OP if that's a threadjack, but thought I'd mention it since I'm assuming at least some of the folks following this thread (myself included) are debating whether or not to pick up an extended warranty.

Zero warranty items. And it's expiring in two weeks.

Don't you mean 2.5 years in? You have a 2016 right? Or did the 'vert release early?

My 2015 has been trouble free (knock on wood) and is coming up to 4 years this fall. Only done 31k. I'm likely going to get a BMW extended warranty if I can negotiate the price down enough...

yes, ISD was January '16, so 2.5 years. that was a typo in the previous post. btw, I bought the extended warranty from day one because I had been driving my brothers '15 F82 for a year off and on and knew I was going to keep this one for a long time.

This seems like a good route. I'll have to look into this.

Any more info ?

Have you had the opportunity to use it yet? Would there be any issues making a claim with a BMW dealership?

As a USAA member I just purchased the extended warranty that covers me for 72 months or 100k miles whatever comes first.
I had them before on my E60 M5 and they were awesome!

How do USAA prices compare to those of BMW quoted earlier?
Who accepts USAA warranty? Some dealers? All of them?

Same question to the Geico people - does only Bubba @junk'n'tow accept it, or BMW dealers as well?

I paid $2600 for 72 months or 100k miles, whatever comes first and I get to choose my shop but they have the right to send an adjuster to approve if they want.
On my E60 M5 they covered every claim and were extremely easy to work with and some of those claims ($16,500 for the tranny) were expensive.

Expensive Repairs

All new Rotors and Brake pads... I don't know what the price would of been, but I'm very glad I didn't have to pay for it.

Car had about 18k miles on it.
