i assume the M4 or M3 was ahead of the camaro he might not even noticed the incident... yes if they were racing he might get into trouble but he's not the one causing the accident it was the Camaro so at lease they have him !!

The BMW involved is lucky there were no fatalities. Unless there's video footage of the car with license plates racing the Camaro, it's going to be difficult to place any BMW at the scene. Since there are no fatalities, law enforcement will probably not put any resources to pursue the bmw.

There's no "might" about it, IMHO. If the two were indeed racing and if there is video clearly showing what would be very difficult to dispute is actual racing, and if said video captured the M4's license plate number, then the M4 driver would most probably be located and arrested.

That's a lot of ifs though. Depending on what evidence there actually is (including the Camaro driver's statement), what resources are available, and the will of the law officials, victims, lawyers, and insurance providers involved in the case, it may be that the M4 driver gets lucky on this one and avoids any further consequences. At any rate, I'm sure whoever owns that M4 is experiencing elevated anxiety today.

Thankfully it sounds like there were no serious injuries.

If they were racing there must have been 2 lanes. Hard to imagine Camaro wouldn’t change lanes if the lane next to him was open, so maybe that means they were side by side and the M driver was a fuckhead, saw everything and still fled.

Anybody who drives in a way that is blatantly inappropriate for the situation and loses control of their car, endangering the lives of others, is trash. Human garbage. A literal waste of carbon dioxide.

People involved in circumstances such as these used poor judgement and hopefully will learn a lifelong lesson at the expense of other people's lives.

We can have all the fun we want but when it's on public roads in non-controlled situations then you're taking risks with not only your life but others as well.

Will be interesting if there is any dash cam footage from other drivers to capture license plates otherwise the bmw driver is long gone unless he feels guilty (he/she should) and turns himself in. What's actually funny is half that thread in the Tesla forum is an argument about the $7500 tax credit. Sheesh! Guy almost loses his entire family and that's what they're concerned with.

You don't know that. There may have been even slower traffic in the adjacent lane at that moment. Or perhaps traffic was becoming more and more congested and no one was going very fast on this particular section of the road. In fact that could be a factor in the Camaro driver losing control.

It says the Tesla was in the car pool lane. The Camaro shouldn't even have been in that lane with just a driver.

I've hit triple digits many times in my F80, and I believe I was exercising the greatest discretion I could've at the time, but I can't deny that each time presents an inherent amount of risk that would've not have been there driving the speed limit.

I do not condone anyone acting wild on the street, especially without discretion, care, skill (), etc.

Every single M3 owner here is driving a powerful, high performance machine which innately presents more public risk than say driving a Prius... it's possible to accidentally give too much throttle in a F8x (especially in wet conditions) and cause an accident- not so much in a Prius...with great power comes great responsibility #batman
