Was a 992 Turbo S Cabriolet at my last track day. Something about the upper/lower body disconnect of the vert, it looked massive.

Not my favorite either. Makes them much less aggressive. And in the case of the 992, back end becomes almost too bulbous, if that's possible.

Maybe Porsche could get some tips from...

I saw a lowered G8X on what looked like HRE's yesterday. I have to admit, it looked really good.

I don't think the 911 turbo very has looked halfway decent from the rear since the 996. They're all too wide for the top. Unless it's down...then they're okay.

Ok, but we both know that G83 should be nuked.

I'd still just like to see ONE in the wild. I'll even admit it if it looks ok on the move...

That's what I thought too, until I saw them next to each other. The Turbo/Turbo S makes the Carrera S look tiny in comparison.
The wide body was one of the compelling elements that got me to move into the turbo. I also did a performance per $ analysis speccing the various variants to my liking (all prices in CAD and hp in DIN):

992 C2S --> $170k --> 376$/hp
992 TT --> $218k --> 376$/hp
992 TT-S --> $249k --> 389$/hp

While the turbo is a whopping $49k over the C2S, I do get a rather significant 130hp boots in power (@375$/hp), plus I get the wider body, wider track, wider wheels/tires, 4WD, active aero, extra cooling, bigger brakes, 700cc extra engine displacement and a few more or less trivial standard features. Jumping to the turbo-S adds a rather significant 31k to the price for a non-negligible 70hp power jump (@$441$/hp), but without any other performance/cosmetic benefits over the base turbo, plus I am forced into two options I prefer to avoid: PCCB and PDCC. That's how I settled on the turbo being in the sweet spot for me .

This level of fastidious automotive insanity resonates with me.

The so-called "man maths," as the Brits like to say.

I keep justifying splurging on the F80 by saying that I've not seen any better example for sale ever since.

I agree, but in the case of the G83 she might as well have armpit hair too. What's the difference at this point

Generally agree...but there's a most beautiful meet-me-in-the-middle. The 911 Targa...just saw the new 992 about a month back. Love that thing!

I agree. The G8x body does not work well with a soft top. Terrible cost-cutting decision.

I saw one today with a license plate across its massive grill. It was the ugliest car I have seen in a long time.
