I am pretty sure they timed the lap in another time with no camera car in-front.
The one lap with the drift should be for viewing pleasure only, you can't have a camera car in-front of you when you are doing a timed lap. I mean if that's what you want, track only then ok. The other 95% of the time I wouldn't want anything to do with it, and would you really pick this over something like a tuned S2000 or Evo...fail wheel drive for a track car?!? |

on a short track they used Im not surprised the lightest car that's toss-able around the corners had a quickest time. The M3 isn't in it's natural environment on such a short track.
Put them all on a track like Laguna Seca or Spa's Kemmel Straight the power of the M3 will pull it ahead of the other 2. I do believe Honda is bringing over a version of that CTR over to the states and it should be an interesting car to compete with the GTi/Golf R, Focus RS and the new WRX/STI |

great showcase of the civic, really glad Honda made a sports car. but this scott is a complete tool, drifting around the track is not how you set a good lap time. Its been proven that this guy is doing this for youtube views, ie. f80 m3 vs alpina 335d.

It really depends on the track you take it to. And it helps if you keep the car from sliding around. The Civic is ugly. It's a horrid shape that they stuck with and then added the ugly aero bits to it to make it functional. The Focus RS on the other hand is a good looking car that will be worthy of the praise it will get very soon. It will be the new king of hot hatches.

why would he turn everything off? of course it's sliding around like crazy. that's gonna slow you down substantially. put it in mdm and this would be a whole different story.

1. You don't turn "everything off" when you're trying to make lap time. You just don't. You get drifts, wheels spin, and it won't hook up as quickly. Idiot!
2. If anything, it's admirable that the Civic is that quick! But quicker than the f80 M3, I am sure not! |

I agree, why would he turn off traction control in a race. The sliding costs a fair bit of time combined with his poor racing line ultimately made the M3 slower than the Civic.
Bias not even raced under the same conditions

Even with (european) MDM you can't use level 3 (engine sport+) on normal roads because that f*cking systems cuts you off consequently when you speed up hard and shift from gear 2 into 3... So for now i use level 2 or switch all that "regulation" off for the real funny rides... I fully agree to your second statement... |

Result is null and void. Drivers name is Steve Sutcliffe. Check out his other videos and then perhaps come to a conclusion. May be some of the Evo guys driving or Chris Harris would result in a different conclusion.
As for traction control. Never on a track. Controlling over and under steer is driver dependant on a track, I.e. how smooth a driver is. Ofcourse every car will behave differently driven by the same person in same conditions. I call for a second opinion. |
