At some point next month there will be another update for the complete vehicle which includes a fix for a known issue with over the air map updates. In the meantime, I had the engineers remote into the car to modify the head unit so that I could manually update your maps.
Have you been back for the fix? Updates pushing yet?

My 2017 was updated to EVO 2017-2 in September and supposedly fixed. Of course it wasn't and maps still aren't pushing

Has anyone had any luck or know of a fix that is in? Service bulletin? Anything?

Dealer is blowing smoke up the arse, they don't have a fix. Typically 4 updates are released per year, no ones car will get all 4 automatically or even 1 if you are lucky and the chance is high that if you do get an update it won't be the most current anyways.

My dealer knows this and has offered me a usb update anytime a new map comes out. The catch to this is that I don't want to waste 1 hr at the dealer every 3 months for an update. I'll make due with an update to whatever is current when my car goes in for whatever scheduled service it needs. So basically a yearly update come oil change time.

well for us here in Dubai we won't even get ANY OTA map updates. The technical manager told me because Dubai still doesn't have a link or the ConnectedDrive Store working and thus no data yada yada yada so there goes my dream of having not to worry about map updates

Thats kinda my plan too unless a definite fix comes out. Plus, it is a full update instead of just regional. OTA is basically a Connected Drive issue, makes me wonder what else doesn't function properly

Plus, OTA is a STANDARD FEATURE that has never worked and BMW doesn't care!
Losing respect for the brand.

I haven't gone back because they scratched my 666M wheel last time and it was a pain getting them to get it replaced.

Don't blame you, how these clowns can't fix a car without scratching something is beyond me

By BMW offering the OTA map updates for 3 years it means that it no longer requires a FSC to load maps. Meaning, any map data update will load by USB for 3 years as well. If you can get the map data "somewhere" and record it in an USB stick then you can load the map data while you are driving -no need to go to the dealer.

BMW knows that this OTA map updates simply is not working well since late 2015 so don't wait for a fix any time soon.

When I bought my 2017 OTA was listed as a "Standard" feature. I never saw any information it was only good for 3 years. Did I miss an * or something? Is the 3 year OTA service length noted or documented anywhere?

Read your ConnectedDrive service contract.

Thanks for the info!

BMW's description of this feature is still misleading. For example, Sirius is a standard but they tell you straight up service is only one year. Oh well. doesn't work anyway.

Interestingly, while driving to the golf course on Thursday, I got an OTA map update. Only the second time I have received one, but glad they appear to be working again. Mine is a 2016 with just over 20k miles, which I have owned since 4/16.

What version did you get and which region are you in?

OTA has always been working, the complaint here is the frequency of the updates. The base gets updated 4 times per year. Would you say 2 regional updates in 2 years is "working"
