Ordered a 2020 BMW M4 ZCP - Question

Hey guys, so I ordered a 2020 M4 about 3 weeks ago and I am already counting the days until I get my hands on it. I have a question. For the last week and half, the tracker shows that the car is in the paint shop phase (152) and it's like if it's stuck there. Does anyone know why this portion of the build takes so long? Could it be because something went wrong? Any help is appreciated. Thank you in advance. I am new to the forums and this is my first post. Be gentle lol

probably because of Christmas, shop might have been closed for several days. Europe takes their vacation seriously

So my car is still showing paint shop (152). I guess I'll wait to check again after New Years. :

Mine has been stuck on order received since the beginning of the month but that's because I have Individual Paint slowing down my build

Congrats on the order. I stopped checking cause I will drive myself crazy lol. It's been in the paint shop 16 days

Congrats on the order! Mine didn't go into production until a month after I placed a deposit.

So checked again and my car still shows "Entery paint shop 152". It's been about 18 days in the paint shop phase. My confirmed production date is for tomorrow 1/3/2020 and my estimated production date shows 1/13/2020. What do these dates mean?

BMW's online production status is unreliable at best. The only accurate data is in the VIR (Vehicle Inquiry Report) which you can request from your dealer. Don't work yourself into a frenzy trying to figure it out. Just know that your car will be done when promised, regardless of what the production status says.

You can Google "BMW production status" and you will get the meanings of most of the status codes. Or try searching these forums, as they have been discussed ad nauseum for years. (Good forum etiquette is to not to ask questions without searching for the answers first.)

Thanks. The information I posted and attached in my original post is directly from BMW Vehicle Inquiry (my fiancé works for BMW) just wanted to see if the dates are reliable or not and why hasn't the car moved in statues for 18 days. I understand the holidays, but just thought that much time is kinda excessive.

Oh, that must have been a screenshot of the screen that she has access to. Most people just get the printout of the report.

If you think this is bad, you're going to work yourself into a complete frenzy once the car reaches port. That's a complete black hole! Even your fiance will not be able to get an accurate status of your car until it's released to a carrier. For one car, my dealer told me it was on a carrier and headed for the dealership. It actually didn't make it through Customs and out of the VDC for another three weeks! I know it's exciting, but just chill! Everything will be alright! Trust in the process!

P.S. I ordered my 2016 M4 from BMW of Irvine! That salesperson left about a year later.

I appreciate that, but at this point I'm planning on keeping my F82 for at least the next 3-4 years. I think that the new grilles that have been rumored/leaked are an abomination. And the ZF 8-speed is not a suitable replacement for the DCT.

you will drive yourself crazy checking on things lol trust me. Ive done it almost 20 times. hang in there, takes a little time but once you get it, it will be worth it!

also fastest way to get up to date info is to call BMW 1-800 number or ask your sales reps (looks like your finance ). The online info usually lags a bit for anyone who is reading this and doesn't already know that.

figure once the car starts production its usually 7-9 weeks till you get it on avg

that also could have something to do with the dealer not having an allocation till that time also.
