Very nice! I've been tracking a (black) SS 1LE the last couple of years. That looks like a 17/18 in very good condition? I haven't seen many black 1LEs in the Columbus area!
What made you switch? I'm very curious, as I'm considering switching to the M3 for track use. I just need to take the M3 to the track a few times before deciding for sure. |

It's a 2018 2SS 1LE, which outside of the sunroof, is exactly what I wanted. Blind-spot and cooled seats are nice to have. I've always liked the latest ATSV and Camaro and I think they're a great value for HPDE use. ZLE was outta the budget or else I would have gotten one of those. I should have a better understand of how it compares to the M3 within a few months of track duty. Feel free to hit me up if you do any track events in the M or 1LE. Yeah it should be interesting to see how it compares after tracking the M3 for three years. Right now I'm trying to decide which tire and brake setup to run, but I'm leaning towards RE71Rs (295 square) and ST43 pads. Ferodo's are just so expensive for this chassis that I think I need to give another brand a shot (ex. powerstop trackday pads are like 1/4 the cost of the Ferodo's). Front rotors are around $350-400 per side, but I think they last quite a while. |

Initial research shows 295's are feasible on the OEM wheels and can be rotated. The ZLE wheels fit and I believe those are staggered with 325 out back. I normally wouldn't go with a square setup but I think 305 to 295 RE71 isnt too bad. |

RE71s choices are the problem, widest is a 305/30/19.
Otherwise yes, the ZL1 comes 305F/325R.

The stock SS1LE has 285/305 and I believe the ZL1 is 305/325. I want to try out the square setup with at least one set of tires before investing more into the car. However, I believe they are now producing the 3R in OE SS1LE sizes which might make the most sense as I hear it's a great tire. Now I just need to find a stock NPP exhaust to replace the Corsa system that is on it so I don't blow sound at NCM! |
