No Ordering Guide so far groups BMW Online with BMW Apps. None. Each has a distinct ordering code. We have not seen the F8X Ordering Guide, only the Pricing Guide. Two different guides.

Again, the F8X Navigation (609) option seems not to follow what the F3X Navigation comes with. Thus the $500 for 6NS when in the F30 it comes with 609.

That's the whole point of the discussion... BMW took something that comes with the optional Nav in the F3X, and made it a $500 option in the F8X with standard Nav.

In reality, nobody knows for sure what additional feature this $500 6NS has over the $250 6NR that it used to be.
Here's the ordering guide, which I found in another thread. But I don't think this really provides any different information.

So without paying this $500, do we get BMW APPS but not the BT Streaming>

So this option has nothing to do with the dock in the armrest? I want to make sure I don't pay for that waste of space...

It once again shows BMW Online/BMW Apps packaged together.

That's what is indicated in Official Pricing Guide, Official Ordering Guide, and BMW website. Technic seems to disagree on this though.

Thanks... now we can see for sure what's going on.

This is the first Ordering Guide this year that groups BMW Online with BMW Apps under 6AK. I stand corrected.

Compare it with the 2014 5- Series, 6-Series, X5, and M5, all of which have Nav (NBT) standard: BMW Online is 6AK, BMW Apps is 6NR and Enhanced USB and Bluetooth with Smartphone Integration is 6NS. The F30 Nav option includes all those features for $2150, no extra charge for 6NS.

If 6AK is now 6AK + 6NR (6NR becoming 7XP) then 6NS (used to be 6NR + 6NF, 6NF being the Smartphone integration, i.e. the baseplate) is reduced in content to be the baseplate and wiring (second USB port) and Bluetooth Audio and price doubled to $500.

Thanks!

In the UK, 6AK is only BMW Online and 6NS is included with 609 -the way it is supposed to be and is in all 2014 BMW with NBT Nav in the USA.

It means that this $500 6NS seems to be offering less for much more than it used to be.

I hope that somehow BMWNA correct this by dropping the $500 option and adding it to the standard Nav -like in any other BMW model.

Thanks. Just confused if all this gets you is a snap-in adapter and BT audio? I don't care about the former but want to have BT audio. If that is the case, complete BS to have to pay that much just for something most cars have standard. Which I suppose is your point...

YES! The end result should be that all that BT/USB is standard. Instead BMW is not only charging for these things but also changing how they are packaged constantly. I want to slap the guy responsible for this.

I guess that 6NS in the M3/M4 only is now just BT Audio and the baseplate for the snap-in.

Which does not make any sense to me because I would expect that for $500 we would be getting even more than BMW Apps, BT Audio and the baseplate. Like, whatever snap-in you want, or some USB feature worth $300+.

Anything that can justify the $250+ increase in this option.

I agree with you, but are we absolutely sure we can program it in on the F8x after the fact? I know it's possible on the F3x, but perhaps the 2015 F8x changes that. I don't think we can answer that until someone tries. I don't care about the snap in, I just want BT streaming.

The NBT iDrive (Navigation) has all the hardware built-in -BMW Apps, BMW Assist, BT Audio, BMW Online, BMW Internet (not enabled in the USA but it is there)-, so it is not that additional modules must be installed as in the E90 in addition to coding. The BT Audio so far does not require any enabling codes (FSC); BMW Apps does. 2014 NBT iDrive and the non-Nav iDrive in the F30 have been already coded for BT Audio -check the F30 forum.

However, the $500 charge could mean that they slapped a FSC to BT Audio, the same way that BMW Apps used to be enabled for free via coding at the begining and then BMW stopped that within 6 months by FSC it.

I mean, there must be a reason for this absurd price in there.

How much did it cost for an FSC code for the BMW Apps? Assuming BT Audio would have a similar cost should they actually require an FSC code for it. I wonder if it's worth the hassle and risk to save the $500 by not ordering it at the factory.

Couldn't the reason simply be "MOAR PROFITS!"?

Of course is profit, but BMW is not stupid: if they ask for $500 for something that most customers will dismiss right away once they discover how little it offers then the price increase will backfire badly.

Do you need this $500 option in order to display your album art from your iPod on the NAV screen?
