Damn, that side comparison looks nice for the RS-F. I don't know if I like the back yet. It does look mean!
But yeah that thing is killing the M4 on paper / pics, but i doubt it will drive as nice.

All you people saying "wow 5.0L v8 480 HP @7300 rpm...". Wake up.
The Lexus redlines at 7300, 480 HP for a split second before you shift gears. Wow really useful. The m3/4 has all that power where it Actually matters. Right in the middle and carries it along the rev range. So not only is the Lexus hideous, the power numbers are made to try to 1 up BMW by showing a bigger number must be better right? Its not how much power you make. Its where you make it and how you use it. Boost is the way to go, it not only delivers a much better power band, it also has boat loads more potential to make big power in the aftermarket. BTW Lexus interiors are notoriously cheap and gimmicky. |

Not sure if this was already posted but the black version looks pretty stunning. The grill is quite a bit more bearable in black. Courtesy of Sedoy froom the thread in non-BMW -
Of course it depends on whether you like the rear and 3/4 view of the car. I personally think rear, side, 3/4 views are perfect. |

Even in black it still looks overly dramatic.

Is the RCF a pushrod V8? Wonderful that the much-maligned BMW TT I6 has a higher redline. And I still think the "F" stands for "Fugly".

RCF
"You’ll find the same cast-aluminum block that’s now doing business in the IS-F, but everything else about this DOHC 5.0-liter V-8 engine has been revised. Lightweight titanium valves are again matched with strong, forged connecting rods, but there are new cylinder heads that still incorporate variable valve timing on both the intake and exhaust cams. The polished crankshaft is smaller in diameter to reduce friction, while the pistons reduce friction as well. Naturally the intake manifold and exhaust headers are new, and the exhaust barks with a sharper, louder note. The dynamometer numbers aren’t yet final, but we’re told that this engine spins faster than before to deliver at least 450 hp and 384 lb-ft of torque." - Automobile

I've owned BMW's for 20 years back to the E36 days and have been a BMW fanatic posting on numerous BMW boards and touting the "superiority" of BMW's on MBWorld, Audiworld, etc. But I can't do it anymore in good conscience. The current generation of BMW has lost me. They've gone corporate and the styling of cars appear to converge (e.g., I still have to do a 2nd take to tell the difference in the rear of an F10 vs. F30). And performance-wise, the sportiness feel is giving way to comfort feel. All BMW's are MEH to me in all respects. Re the Lexus, I hated that grill on the IS350, but on the RC F, it fits much better. The styling says "get outta my face or I'm going to run you over"; while the new M3/4 is more conservative, like "can you please, sir, change lanes so that I may pass? Please, pretty please? Thank you so much." Maybe BMW is seeking more woman buyers to increase sales but it's losing me as a former BMW fanatic. I also never liked the Bangle styles but it appears they've completely in the opposite direction and made cookie-cutter bimmers these days. Having said that, if rumors that this Lexus is going to weigh in at 3900lbs, then it will be hugely disappointing and DOA for me. Come to think, Lexus' insistence not to offer a manual gearbox already had me running away. Looks like some things never change. But kudos to Lexus designers for not following BMW's ho hum one-size-fits-all styling. |
