5DL Surround View Retrofit

Hello,

I have a 2017 LCI2 BMW F80, it has all options except 5DL (Surround view) and 5DP (Advanced Parking Assistant). I plan to retrofit them. The 5DP option isn't the problem. I read thru all the F30 Retrofit posts seeing as most of the electronics are the same for the F80. problem is most retrofits are done on vehicles from before 2017.

Around the summer of 2017 BMW decided to change the FEM to not support a TRSVC module if you don't order the surround view from the factory. This means the rearview camera is connected via iCAM directly into the headunit and not via a TRSVC.

I ordered the surroundview repair kit listed on REALOEM from LEEBMAN24 but this was missing the front left (white connector) side view camera cable. leebmann insisted that this repair dit wasnt for my car (no shit i wanted to retrofit it my vin doesnt includ the 5DL option). And because of that they could tell me if this cable was missing or not supposed to be included. As i did not know about the FEM change yet at this time I went and ordered the SideView repair kit which has the 4 HSD wires fror the top and sideview camera's.

Now my issue starts. As i need the rearview cable repair kit for my car. But i cannot find this partnumer as BMW does not offer just a rearview camera cable on the F80 LCI2, if you look in REALOEM it just shows the iCAM option but no HSD cable. I can probably use the cable of a F30 but have no idea about the partnumber for this. The other option would be to order the Surround View Repair kit for the F30 which does look like it has all the cables but ofcourse i cannot know for sure this would work as partnumbers are different. And i also need the wiringloom to connect the TRSVC to the cars HU.

Has anybody done this retrofit before on a late model M3/M4? I have a local BMW specialist which can code a new FEM (or used one for that matter) into my existing car. Just need the wiringloom for the TRSVC and the rearview camera. So any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hey there Im looking to do the same thing on my M3 Comp. I have had two M3s so far and the first one had Surround-view but my comp doesn't and want to look into getting it fitted. I cant seem to find any info on it how have you got on?

I haven’t started yet as I need to replace my FEM. What production month/year is your car? As if it’s from around 07/2017 you will also have a FEM which doesn’t support the TRSVC unit needed for surround view. You have two options. Get a new FEM from bmw for around 500$ or look on eBay and get a second hand one.
Check RealOEM.


The second hand will will need to be cloned by somebody who can do that as the dealership cannot do that. I have an Indy mechanic that has all the tools to replace the FEM.

I’ve ordered the side view repair cable set. Should come in about a week. I’ll let you know then which parts you need.
