I totally agree with Dr. Friedrich, "this is the best M4 ever!" LoL

At least the guy has a sense of humor!

If BMW made it that way you can be certain that they spent a lot of $ time and resources perfecting it in their wind tunnel ... Ugly or not I'm sure it works well and cuts air like a mpowered scalpel Just a thought - because that's a lot of barfing !

@ Dimabimmer

My point is just that BMW and SGL have the ability to manufacture CF parts at a lower cost than probably any other auto manufacturer at this time.
I pulled the $600.00 number out of thin air for the purpose of example... :-)

Also, I don't think BMW & SGL use an autoclave for the production of CF parts, which also greatly reduces the overall cost of CF made parts. As proof, prior to the i3 and i8, the least expensive auto to use a CF chassis was the McLaren MP4-12C at approx. $230k base US. I'm sure everyone here knows the base price of an i3 in comparison. So a $600.00 carbon fiber hood for say, a Honda Civic would essentially cost $300.00 or less possibly.

When I first heard of the partnership / collaboration between SGL as well as Boeing I had a BIG smile on my face.
SGL gets it started and you should see what Boeing has going on with CF parts manufacturing.
This was a veeeery smart move that BMW has made.....
Good points. This has been extensively discussed here on this forum. BMW will indeed benefit on price per volume for all of its vehicles using the same basic raw carbon fibers, the bulk of which initially will go into the i3.

My thinking on this is that Aurum Dust basically took the M Concept color torch from Chrome Shadow. So, loosely, if we look at how close (or not...) BMW's production silver/gray colors have come to resembling Chrome Shadow, so too may be the case for gold/yellow vs. Aurum Dust.

Now granted I am assuming that Aurum Dust uses a similar astronomically expensive, complex, multi-layer process like CS does.

Thanks a lot for the new videos and the photos. The M4 is truly nice. However in my opinion BMW should have left the round lights

Concerning the video "Laguna Seca Reveal in the BMW Paddock", yesterday, when I first looked at the video, there was a beautiful instrumental song with drums, guitar and organ (I'm not sure if it was an organ or a piano). It was a rhythmic song. Is it possible to know the name of the band?

Thanks

I've loved every single M3 prior to this one coming out. Maybe it's the hideous color or the fact that it seems extremely busy to me. I think it's the color. I'll save my judgement for the M3. No it's not the color, there is way to much goingon in the front end, the hood, the roof lines to the rear deck. This looks like a tuner car to me. I'll probably end up getting it anyway after one comes off lease.

Somewhat. Yes, I hate the sloping hood and straight line, so why buy a car I think is ugly? I think all of the new 3 series line-up is hideous from the front and much prefer my old E92 328i.

But also, I wanted to try the V8 before it was gone. Maybe in 3 years when my lease is up I'll warm up to the new design and try the 6 turbo to take advantage of mpg. So far no regrets on the last of the E92 M. Will I be jealous when they can chip it to 500+hp? No, because I can supercharge to 650.

What's there to be jealous of for F82?

PS - the rest of the car is pretty good and pretty much draws a break even on the hood, from the pics. Other criticism is the hood dome is barely there, no intakes, side marker/intakes diminished. Less differentiation from other 3's with "M" packages.

Ahhhh good ol' buyers remorse. There's a TON to be jealous of! Just look at the thing! And if speculations are correct, this thing will be a BEAST!
Don't worry though. E92 is still an awesome car. Just not as awesome as this M4 will be

Well, what about:

-light weight
-better handling (see point above)
-newer design/New model
-better acceleration
-torque vectoring diff

Just to name what we know so far.

You loose the "Muscle Car V8" engine, but how many F10 M5 owners do you hear being unhappy with the torque and power delivery of their turbo engine...

If the 3GT M were to come (which would be a big surprise) it wouldn't look close to this rendering, which misses the flared wheel arches and stands taller than the already available M sport version. If you fixed these crucial things it would actually look decent.

You might get the opportunity. Sales for the first units of the 3er Gran Turismo since launch in June have exceeded initial projected targets.
