Another oil Thread (Purol oil)

I was just wondering if anyone here had tried Purol oil. I have been running Motul and I am going to be trying out Purol oil . I plan on doing a before and after oil analysis.

Motul 300V or Xcess Gen2 is the best IMO.

Yeah, I have been running Xcess. I am going to try out Purol oil and compare the 2.

300V is god if vehicle sees a lot of track. If driven a lot on street, Motul Sport is better choice.

from my understanding, motul sport is an older formulation. id personally run gen 2 over sport on the street.

Actually it is not. Sport is oil that is made for people running vehicle a lot on street and track. 300V has a lot of Esters and with that it will produce a lot of oxidation. It is basically race oil, and if vehicle sees A LOT of track, 300V is probably best option.
But, if you drop kids to daycare, run groceries with your M3, and than go to track, Sport is better option. It is still Ester based, but with more PAO and GroupIII base stock to control oxidation. It is actually API SN, which means there is some oxidation control (not like LL01). But, it will perform well on track too as Esters provide better thermal stability, higher HTHS and better heat dissipation.
Gen2 X-Cess and X-Clean are exceptional oils and probably good choice for track if you go on track once in blue moon, blow off some steam, and that is it. It is Group III oil, there are no Esters or PAO in Gen2. But, considering it is GrIII, HTHS and KV100 relation is absolutely exceptional. But, for serious tracking and street use, Sport is better. If car is track animal, yes, 300V is one to go.

Just got my oil results back from the lab, not bad at 60k. Car has about 5 track days and lots of canyons driving. The coolant in the oil, is probably from when my charge cooler was leaking.

Coolant probably sheared oil a bit.
Next time do TBN and TAN so you know how much life is left in it and where oxidation is.
Do not forget, UOA is a test of oil, not so much of an engine. It can point to some problems in an engine, but it should give you an idea about oil. IMO, KV100 is a bit too low, but again, probably coolant contributed to it.

My car sees little to no short trips the shortest is prob 20 minutes. I’m a pretty moderate driver I do give her the beans often. Most of the time roll racing. Should I stick to Excess G2 or Sport? I’ve been to the track twice last year and that’s about it. I change my oil every 5k miles as well. It’s currently on stage 2 on E50.

The name now is Motul Power. I would go Power 5W40. You are running E50. You really don’t want ester based or a lot of esters in oil. Inwould do also UOA to see how much alcohol is thinning oil as 5W50 might be necessary.

Isn’t the Motul Power the one with a good amount of ester? I did forget to mention I’m not always on E50 I tend to fluctuate between pump and E50. I’m sending my test and will post it here as soon as I get results. This test is going to be on Liqui Moly 5W30 Special Tec B FE. Do you still think my best option would be Motul Power?

no,Motul Power is more of a PAO oil than an ester..Motul 300v is the more ester oil.
as for Liqui Moly and edycol its not a good mix in the same sentence

There is new Power line up that replaced old Sport.
Check out their web site. But it is fairly expensive oil. To be honest, I would check HPL Bad Ass Racing oil. It is streetable oil, PAO based, very, VERY stout.

Is the Motul 8100 power ester based? I’m asking because you said if you run E59 at times it’s not great to have an ester based or a lot ester in the oil. Also is the Motul 8100 power a good street/racing oil? Or should i go gen 2 xcess where you said it’s a jack of all trades?

New Motul Power is like old Sport, API licensed. So it is ok for street use. It is mostly PAO based and if there is some ester, it is very little.
Personally, if you want something really good, shear stable, look at HPL Bad Ass Racing Oil 5W40.
It is PAO based, very little VII, super shear stable polymers. Personally, I would go this over Power:

ACEA has higher sludge, deposit and wear requirements than API. Considering this is track oil, it is probably a deposit requirement.
