Acid Orange Powder Coat equivalent

For the track I have been running OZ Hyper GT Graphite 19 x 10. Great wheels, strong, light and provides a square set up. Problem is the car is Black Sapphire and the graphite wheels just blend in. I love the color the of the stock wheel but the staggered set is not optimal for frequent track use.

I looked into painting the wheels but the price was $1100 to $1300 for 4 wheels. I looked into powder coating. To make a long story short I paid Prismatic Powders to develop a match to Acid Orange. I got the wheels back today, not bad and a far better look than graphite. And the good news is that cost was very reasonable.

Color development (one time cost I paid for) $300.00
Powder coat material (2 stage x 4lbs each) $126.71
2 stage powder coat $300.00
Total $726.71

The next set of wheels will cost (my rain wheels):

Powder coat (2 stage x 3lbs. will do 4 wheels) ~$100.00
Powder coat $300.00
Total $400.00

The pictures are Chicago afternoon winter lighting so take that in consideration. All in all a nice setup for the track.

The color is called Russet Copper (they would not allow me to name it)

While not perfect, I am very happy and powder coating will fit the vocation.

Let me know if you have questions.

The tires, Toyo RR are on back order since November. I will re-post when the shoes arrive.

Color looks great - it would look really cool if the spokes were left bare/polished metal like OEM, but I understand that's maybe not achievable with powdercoating at a reasonable price point.

Oooh curious to hear about your clearance...I tried mounting 265/35/19 RRs on my 10.5et22 wheels and had clearance issues. They looked beefy and sure enough proved to be too big. Hopefully mounted on 10" wheels you'll be fine.

What kind of clearance issues did you have?

265/35/19 fits comfortably in front or rear. I'm running 275/35/19 on the front and 305/30/20 on the rear, no issues.

I run 295 30 19. No problem with clearance. Tirerack checked the fitment with a coordinate measurement machine.

I haven't looked to see how the OEM wheel was manufactured, but many companies will paint the whole wheel one color then cut away the paint on the top surface with a cnc or a lathe. Some companies call it a 'diamond cut' finish. I know most of the wheel refinishers out here in SoCal can perform this work.

For a track wheel the one color powder coat is perfect. Since this is a 2 step the color coat - grind - clear coat is very possible and realistic since the powder coating is so reasonably priced.

My car is not a GTS, its a standard M4 with MP HAS to lowest setting. I was rubbing with the spring perch. When I finally cleared that by meager mms it turns out the tire was poking too much outside and would rub the fender. a Those Toyo RRs run real wide, and the 10.5 really stretches them out even wider.

Anyway I ask because my understanding is the KW suspension that comes with the GTS have even less clearance.

the KW suspension has a 2.5" spring so there is more clearance there.

And I run 19 x 10 at all four corners. Tons of track miles, no rubbing.
