Competition Sport....

That way BMW can use the nomenclature for other models than just coupes.

oled taillight seems like will be the standard equipment for M4 Cs and there is no laser headlight for M4 Lci as well as CS

So we will have...

Standard M4
Comp pack M4
M4 CS
M4 GTS

CS might hit just the right level of rawness vs. everyday usability. Would be really interested in a "CS" level version of the M3. Maybe for the next generation. Although I guess they would have to name it something else since the M3 is sedan only now.

Could very well be. I was just pulling DocWeatherington leg

Although, historically at BMW, CS was used to designate Coupé Sport, or as is in CSL for Coupé Sport Lightweight. But that can change, BMW is not known for holding onto stuff .

That would make more sense...then it doesn't matter if the car is a 2 or 4 door variant...

There has been rumour in the German press a while back, that the -CS model designation could replace the Competition Pack option altogether (as the -S designation does for AMG)

Ahhhhh gotcha - I missed that. Interesting...so that would allow BMW to put a bit more "distance" between the standard M car and its respective CS version.

The Spain M4 "Competition Sport" was not a BMW corporate product and the CS letters were not part of the official model designation.

That being said, the CS model designation could very well apply to 4-doors going forward too .

As aajami stated.. CRT is the BMW speak you are looking for. See E90 M3 CRT for your already existing precedent..

I have 2018 M4 on order. Should I cancel it and wait for this? I hope all the details including pricing is released this week. Buyer's remorse is a bitch.
