Poll - Are E9X M3 owners biased against the new M4?

Keep in mind the F80/F82 has to live up to the benchmark set by the E9X ///M's and that "has yet" to be proven.

We aren't haters we just know the ///M recipe has been significantly watered down to accommodate the masses.

The only M in recent history that has continued winning comparos in its last year of production is the E9x M.

The new M team has already failed pretty bad with the F1x Ms, which lost in their first year out.

I hope they do a better job with the F8xM, but their direction shows otherwise.

I agree with what you said and one of the main reasons for me purchasing an E92 M3 were all of the positive reviews and test comparisons. I do feel that the M division is working to address the issue of weight and torque, which were two areas the E92 has been somewhat criticized on. One of the questions that still remains is how the EPS (if this is what is used) will turn out. I can only hope that it will be like the 991 Porsche and better yet, the GT3 version, which apparently has a very good system. I think the F8xM's will be a turning point for the M division (after the luke warm reviews of the F10 M5) and that they will receive positive reviews from everyone.

I'm pretty sure the E46 M3 was also winning comparos until it was replaced.

The M3 is a different animal to other M-cars. It is, and always has been, the car M-engineers care about more than any other. While we do have to wait for it to be released, I'm almost positive it won't disappoint.

So, color me as an unbiased E92 M3 owner/lover who is planning on buying an F80.

I hope it's good too, I really do.

The inevitable CSL version of this one may be quite good, but the N54/N55 does not belong in any M car regardless of how tuned it is.

The E46M did not win nearly as much as the E92M, which has wiped the floor with every single competitor. Even GTR/911 comparos.

I agree that they care about this one more than the rest of the Ms. I take the addition of the Comp Pack on the F1x Ms as a clear admission that it sucks, because we've never seen ZCP so soon.

Hopefully they will have learned from those, but if the new 3/4 are any indication....

How is the immediate addition of ZCP an admission that it sucks? I'd rather have ZCP right off the bat. They could do what Audi does and produce a RS model at the end of the body style's life cycle. Who wants to wait? I don't understand the sentiment. None of us knows exactly what the power plant will be. It could be a 3.0-3.5. It could be some sort of nutso triple turbo. The weight of the 435i is a bit over 3,300 lbs, that is promising for the M4.

Just keep whatever it is you have and be happy with that. If not, find another car than the M4. There is plenty to choose from.

It sucks because that's the general consensus on proper car mags. What Motortrend had to say about the last M6 they tested is flat out terrible. EVO, C&D, Insideline have all said similar things.

This seems like an admission from the M team that it does suck. They should not be changing the steering, bushings, etc a year after it started production.

I can't get over that line in the front of the hood. I like the more muscular look, certainly makes it look more manly - my wife prefers the more rounded E9x look. In fact, right now it looks a little bit too aggressive for me, but maybe I'll warm up to it. :P

Reviews are starting to come in of the latest F-series car, the F15 X5 and they are not good if you like me lament the change BMW has made from taut, communicative and agile cars to soft, vague luxo cruisers. It's the same old story with the F15, steering is bad and suspension is smooth but not sporty. I really hope the F80 brakes away from all F-series dynamics and steering and actually improves on them instead of at best retaining and more likely degrade from the current car. Is it possible? I'm growing more and more concerned but I dearly hope so.

I do find myself trying to make the numbers work for a 991 though. BMW, time to drop some more juicy F80 info to keep us inline.

I agree that this is not a good thing to hear about another new BMW product. Regardless of size, whether SUV/SAV/Sedan, Coupe, a BMW should be known for handling, steering, and overall driver excitement. Kind of like a Volvo should be known for safety. However, I think Porsche has shown regardless of how large the Panamera is, the Cayenne, etc., whenever someone drives one on the street or track during a review they are left with largely positive feelings about the cars performance. I have seen in reviews that state the Panamera and Cayenne should not handle like they do and that they seem to defy physics. I feel that BMW should be able to produce the same positive reviews from their sedans and SUV's let alone any of their M performance offerings. Which I still feel bad that the M5 has not even come close to owning AMG or the Audi S6 (not even an RS) for that matter. Don't get me wrong, I love BMW, but I don't like the recent reviews over the last several years and I really hope my M4 will be different.
