No, the single digit after the slash, I think, signals the general shade of the colour because there were often two colours for the same three-digit paint code. 250 is for Macao Blue as well as Palmetto Green II so the single digit differentiates one from the other. The newer colours have different paint codes as they've got letters in them now, too.

Idk could be
Dealer will give you the right thing if you give them full code, and they can issue a new paint code sticker as each has a part number

I'm no bodyshop expert, but you could say it is the base coat that's sprayed on under the layers of the actual paint & clear coat your car wears on top.

In the 1st pic you can see my bumper respray that was fully sanded down to plastic, primered, and painted is a good match but in the sun it does quite match the hood. Also had paint matched lip and carbon splitters installed!
Good news is took back to the shop and their master paint tech is not happy with it and is going to dial it in further. I know all the points about paint on plastic vs metal, how flake lays down etc but the tech was sure he could improve it. |

Yup. There really was no debate. I was cool about it and the shop felt it was below the standard they want to deliver and we put together a plan to fix. I could tell the master tech was personally annoyed at it not being better and is on a mission to nail it.
They did say they used the exact primer the paint code called for in the computer. I think my next post will be really good. |

How old is your car? Typically paint fade from age, and it happens whether the car is a garage queen or lives outside, is the variable body shops have to deal with when it comes to re-sprays and matching. But FWIW, I find that my M3 with original factory painted individual paint (Smoked Topaz Metallic) will have slight shade differences between different body panels (like bumper vs hood vs fender) depending on the angle and light....
