I’d pick the Motul.

Reviving this thread. Looking for an oil reccomnedation. Climate: Hot summers & “cool” winters (South Carolina) Use: daily driver, stage 1, no tracking & spirited driving My intial thought is to go with Castrol 0W-30. What do you guys think? |

Or you can go Pennzoil Platinum Euro 5W40 or Mobil1 0W40 FS. All good choices! |

My tune is an OTS BM3 tune. Nothing crazy. I’ll pick up some 8100 Xcess G2 for my next oil change. Thanks! Also, I saw you had mentioned Motul HT DCTF trans fluid for 6MT. On the Motul website they recommend Multi DCTF. Any thoughts there? |

Sport is still there but if no track time, Gen2 is better. Street oils are ALWAYS better for street, spirited drive and ocassional track. Track oils should be used only if track time is very common. Street oils are really good in cleaning, dispersing etc. Don’t forget that city driving, short trips etc. are actually harder on oil and engine than track. |

It is excellent product. You can’t go wrong with that. I know E90 owners use their Multi ATF as it is thicker.

Sweet, I’ll pick some Motul up for my next trans flush. I have two bottles of the Pentosin FFL-3 already on hand. Is that fluid okay to use? Or am I better off picking up the Motul?

FFL-3 is also excellent product. Use that then go Motul. You will be wasting money. FFL-3 is DCT fluid.

300V is probably the BEST track/racing oil. But, asI said above, it is still oil suited for track/racing, regardless that Motul increased PAO in latest version to lower oxidation (although oxidation in old 300V was exceptionally low for oil like that). I have 10ltrs of new 300V on my shelf that I will try next track season and compare to Pennzoil Platinum Euro 5W40, Motul X-Cess 5W40 GEN2 and Castrol Edge 0W40 that I used also on the track. But, I would avoid 300V unless car is dedicated track animal, especially in more complex engines such as B generation. I run in N52 and that engine is not particularly demanding but can give good indication about oil from used oil analysis. |

Looks good. Low pour point so there is good amount of Ester. However, not sure about benefits over X-Cess 5W40 on the street. It is API oil, which means oxidation, detergents etc. are there. However, it is fairly thick. It would be good option where there is bit of fuel dilution and attempt to extend OCI. |

ok edycol l I have the big question. Still waiting on the edycol ultimate oil bible thread post.
Anyway, I drive a tuned F80 7-8000/year and 4-5 track days per year in 40-95deg wx. This is not my primary car, but w/e car. What do I use? Castrol edge, or Motul Sport, or 8100 XG2 5-40 or what, and the OCI? Another is that my wife has an R56 Mini stock DI crap French engine that gets about 7-8000/year 95% street and 5% Dragon miles. I really DO NOT want to blast valves again! What do I use in that? |
