Put 87 octane by accident

I put about 4-5 gallons of 87 octane gas in m3 by accident, then filled up 10 gallons octane 91. seems to drive fine no warning lights but the engine sound, especially on downshifts is diminished...

should not damage the engine or the catalytic converter right?

Grab a hose and start siphoning. I recommend toothpaste or mouthwash afterwards.

In all seriousness though, I'm pretty sure OEM tunes compensate for crappy gas. I'd just keep it off boost until the tank is almost done. Hard not to stomp on it, but don't want any problems. Tank is small enough that should empty quickly.

You're fine.

You can thank the automotive gods for electronic fuel injection.

87 just combusts under less compression.

Drive it like you stole it get that gas out ASAP . LOL
Although I wouldn't do it all the time it will not hurt anything . We have customers that never use 91 and don't have issues

Grab some 104 octane boost if you want. Ecu adapts for gas quality.

Same thing happened to me yesterday. I live in NJ and can't pump my own gas. Told the dude 93 several times. Still put in 87. Was pretty pissed off.

Did this with my 911 turbo stock tune once, didn't really notice a difference or have any problems. You should be fine.

The fact that some states require "full service" still blows my mind. I can't imagine someone else pumping gas in my car.

Turns something that should take 5 minutes max to 10 minutes sometimes. Very annoying.

Drive in efficient and stay out of boost. Dont hammer it to get rid of the gas. Shit happens so the ecu will compensate.
