Apparently when you first sign up for Turo you agree to an arbitration clause saying you can't sue them also. Just found that out.
WTF. How the hell does a slipping clutch cause a fire?
They are trying to say the clutch was worn so bad that there was metal against metal contact that heated up and caused materials around the clutch to ignite. Sounds like a bunch of bs to me. If a clutch ever gets to that point it's definitely noticeable way before then that there's a problem.

The renter himself even said the car as driving normally when he first got the car as did myself and the renter the day before.
I've burnt a clutch before, and the car was not even close to burning. The clutch pedal simply became mush. And it was a 98 integra. Can't imagine a relatively new 80k car with a burnt clutch was somehow driven for miles and miles then burned in flames.

What makes no sense is that Turo denied the claim yet the IAAI listing is made via Turo so how could they sell something that doesn't belong to them? I'm pretty sure you got paid otherwise the car (or whatever is left of it) would be in your possession.

I'm trying to settle using a process called FairClaims. If this doesn't work then yea Turo got me and I'll have to find some other way to recoup my money.

I'm sorry for your loss of the vehicle! It is an unfortunate situation. Has BMW claimed any responsibility? Are they blaming you? I'm sure if my car caught on fire they would say the car is operating as normal!

BMW contacted me and said they have not experienced any issues with my model that would justify. Typical response. Ultimately I ended up getting paid out for my loss so all is good now.

Part of my agreement with turo is I can't disclose any info about the claim or damage the brand by talking bad about the experience. You never know who's eyes are watching.
