Repairing curb rashed wheel

Hey everyone

I know nothing about how they fix curbed wheels.

If the repairer is competent, is this a permanent fix? Any long term wear or problems with finish wear when compared to an unrepaired wheel?

Trying to figure out if I should repair or just rebuy

If the repair is done correctly, it should be permanent.

If the wheel is cracked or severely bent, probably best just to get a new one. I've seen some cracked repairs last forever, I've seen some never balance right again and you're just bouncing down the road for the rest of your life which is miserable.

Basic curb rash is relatively easy to fix at a competent repair shop.

I drove on a cracked wheel unknowingly for a while. Basically some of the spokes cracked off the hub. The car would be unpredictable when braking hard and I thought it was an suspension issue. I'm surprised the hub didn't separate from the barrel.

Check for cracks and replace entire wheel if it's cracked or bent. You don't want to risk it over saving a few bucks with a repair.
