Any differences in cooling systems between earlier and later S55 motors?

I am continuing my search for what could be causing my cooling system to heat up so much to the later cars. Based on YouTube videos, the earlier model cars (2015-2017) seem to heat up more under WOT/hard pulls than the later model cars for some reason. As such, I was wondering if there were any parts that were quietly changed between the engines (besides the tune) that might cause this difference?

Also, engine oil is cooled by the coolant system indirectly, correct? My coolant level was a bit low (about a few ounces) so I topped it up with distilled water, but that led me to start thinking about my water pump's health.

IIRC it's all the same, earlier cars were tuned more aggressively and that could raise the temps.

Which tank did you have to top off, not the one behind the cooler was it?

No I had to top off the main coolant tank off to the side. The question is why the level was low in the first place, if BMW really specifies coolant as lifetime fill.

No fluid on the car is "lifetime fill"… everything requires maintenance otherwise you are asking for trouble down the line.

I need to add a few ounces coolant every couple of months. This has always been the case for all of the BMWs I've owned.

Just be sure to measure coolant when the car is completely cold.

When they say 'lifetime' they really mean 'lifetime of the warranty' I remember when some makes were trying to sell lifetime transmission fluid.
