My M4 lease is up in June 2020 and right now C8 is on the top of the list. There are some styling elements that brother me but I can’t ignore the performance for probably ~$80k fully loaded. The new M3 render is horrendous, there’s no way I would get it if it looks like that. My ideal C8 build:

Chevrolet expounds on this last bit in its press release, saying the low rockers allow for easy ingress and egress. “Unlike some competitors,” Chevy says, “there’s no need for oversized rocker panels to bear structural and load weights, making it easier to enter and exit the vehicle.”

I kinda knew this day was coming. BMW is more concerned with "electric mobility" then "The Ultimate Driving Machine". Time will tell but it's not looking good. I'm picking up a 2020 ///M4 at the PC this Friday. Could be my last BMW. ZF Auto, shit front end, AWD (Audi) is just not appealing to me! |

2 rwd m cars, so I can accept m xdrive on the G80. It won't handle like an Audi. The F90 front axle is excellent (even pushed on track), so confident the G80 will be just fine there. The awd does change the driving approach though, makes it less challenging and entertaining, imo. The F90 is pretty GTR mid corner to corner exit. But if they destroy the styling like this I can't follow. agree the overall direction is discouraging -- in the era of C8, more power from a turbocharged engine + awd seems feeble. It will achieve acceleration numbers and post amazing lap times (awd), but if you've been around since e36/e46/e39 era, that just seems empty.

Feeble is a perfect word for what's going on. I'm just having a hard time getting behind BMWs cars/decisions as of late. I think they are going down a losing road. Time will tell. |

One of the things I sometimes like about my M4 is that it can fly a little under the radar when I don't want to be 'in your face with my sports car.' There is certainly no getting around that idea if you pull up in the new Corvette. I have a Jeep Cherokee I can drive as needed, but the M4 would certainly seem to make a better every day driver than the vette and I drive my M4 80/20 vs my Jeep. Its definitely tempting though.

I've had just a few BMW service stories over the years... Bad dealership mechanics everywhere

Things I hate: Regular automatics AWD Electric power steering Turbo engines Then I drive the F90 Comp hard back to back with the DCT M3 and the auto shifts really well and the AWD seems to only do good things and not piss me off I dislike the overall direction of M from a theoretical perspective, but then heavily track the current generation and it's everything I could ask for. They are still getting the basics right, consistently On paper the C8 is wonderful, but the previous Z06 was also wonderful and it turned out to be a steaming turd for track use because they screwed up on the cooling. I hope the C8 Z06 will fix this but I'm not confident. |
