I'm hitting the road probably next week. I'm going to NJ via Canada and with my minor navigation issues, California is an option where I could easily land.

I don't care what you drive, doing this is just asking to be keyed or worse. I have a friend that had enough of this kind of thing at his gym that he wedged screws in front of all 4 wheels so the arsewipe who owned the car (also a BMW in that case) knew it wasn't an accident when he got slow punctures on all 4 wheels. Not something I'd do myself but I totally understand the anger.

My friend has a son who has down syndrome. I've seen her go shopping with the son who can't walk and the logistics are really hard for her when someone has decided they deserve the handicap parking places. That memory keeps me off from them.

I have a collection of parking tickets from the time the parking pass I would've needed hadn't gone through yet. My father was in a bad shape, and couldn't walk more than a few meters, so to assist him into a hospital, I had to leave the car in the front for a few minutes at the time. I got the money back later, but I still get angry when I see someone in a spot they just took and never gave a second thought for the people who really needs them.

I do get that we all hate the minuscule spots and minivans in the same area, but I agree with your friend. My examples were from the blue zone, but we all could consider others needs his a little bit more.

For sure there are legitimate reasons to do something like this but I'm fairly confident this wasn't one of them. In my friend's case it was a regular at the gym who couldn't bear to park his new BMW near other cars where it might be dinged.
