Exclamation iDrive not working

iDrive stopped working while I was driving. Navigation is stuck on system starting and the usb/bluetooth isn't working. I disconnected the battery but still same problem.

It wont even connect to bmw online to fix the time. Usb and iphone is connected to the car but its not reading anything.

Anyone else experience this?

I have not. There is a second battery which runs all the auxillary systems. Maybe try disconnecting both and see if it will reboot. Otherwise, I'm at a loss.

Do u know where the 2nd battery is? I left the car off for about 2 hrs now and will check to see if it reset.

Just checked for codes and this was stored. The fix is to replace the head unit.

Now I have to go to dealer and probably leave my car there.

Just a wild idea here......its under warranty so take it to the dealer. I don't get self/forum diagnosing new cars with factory coverage especially with electronics.

This looks like exactly what happened to mine. There is a unit that sits in the back left of the car under the trunk. They had to order it from Germany and then kept my car for 2 days to get it installed. They think water leaked in somehow and fryed it. They checked for leaks and think they found a spot and sealed that also. SO far, no problems since it has been replaced. GOod luck. Let me know if you have any other questions

It best to avoid dealer until u have no choice but to go for warranty work. Disconnecting the battery could've fixed the idrive so why not try? It takes 5 minutes. Now I have to go dealer so the tech can tear apart my dash scratching something up and ruining the leather.

If u can fix something it's better to do it yourself rather than a bmw tech who wont care about your car like you do.

The cigarette jack wasn't working on my car so I checked the fuse and it was blown. Took me 5 min to fix as opposed to driving 25min and wait in line for 1-2 hours for them to look at my car.

This time I don't have warranty but I heard all bmw parts have 2yr warranty. Can someone clarify?
