Bump for some good news/not great news. Good news is I joined the "600whp club" in hitting the dyno this morning.
Setup: Pure Stage 2+ Oem fueling w/ E50 VRSF downpipes VRSF intakes VRSF single mid VRSF charge Bend Calibration ultimate flex fueling filter/kit The not as great news is that I spun to the tune of 560whp on the local dyno dynamics dyno which reads 11% lower than a dynojet. That nets me 621whp on the totally stock fueling system running E50. I expected another 15-20whp out of it honestly but given the tuning saga of hitting injection limits, i'm just glad to have a safe tune that breaks 600whp. No pictures of graphs as we had some serious problems getting the car to not spin on the initial torque hit. We feel more confident on the peak power but not the midrange. That being said the graphing looked terrible lol. https://www.bootmod3.net/log?id=61b0...0b4344e1a3d6bc https://www.bootmod3.net/log?id=61b0...90c666e435ba41 A lot to unpack here, but I feel like the dyno is just another tool and this process proves out to me that it generally is healthy, generally makes the numbers it should and the datalogs don't show anything concerning. Can't be too unhappy with that right?

Not necessarily results at this point but broke out the old GoPro and took a few quick vids if anyone was curious on interior sounds, or sound in general.
Lots of wind noise so I was windows up for the 3-4 pull, and then a quick little cruise around the neighborhood. Also I don't have a youtube channel lol, these are strictly for science.

I do have a small YT channel - attached a video for WOT example of my car with its pain-in-the-rear boost chop issues. The turbo noise competing with the exhaust note is hilarious though, pretty much equally as loud from within the cabin. Update on that - we believe the issue is a malfunctioning valvetronic motor. My car makes a ticking noise from under the hood upon unlock. That's a signal of the little actuator failing to affect the eccentric shaft. The car's inability to adjust variable valve timing is likely responsible for my boost oscillation issues. I'm a bit on the fence about it - but Paul & my shop have confidence that will fix my vehicle (partially via process of elimination, considering we've done everything else possible..) That's being replaced this week, as well as my Nostrum HPFP and injector upgrades, and flex fuel kit install. I'm picking the car up Jan 7th to start logging and building my 91oct-E85 flex fuel tune w/ Paul. Pretty excited for a "Super M3" when on full E85. Kinda insane these cars can go past 800 flywheel on stock internals.. BMW 3L straight six is punching in the 812 Superfast weight class. Hopefully I can run in the mid to low 10s after all is said and done (I see the irony of using a rwd M3 on street tires for drag racing when there's far better alternatives for the money, this is just the best way for me to track the performance gains of my car) |

Nice! Hopefully that gets everything all sorted and working correctly! Looks like you're making some really good progress. Interested to see how everything goes on your tuning too - i'm waiting to hear back from Paul on tuning as well atm. Looks like my Dorch kit will be here later this week, and the EU5's are sitting around waiting. I'm feeling a little more apprehensive about pushing my car much harder, and thinking maybe that 650-675 mark is about all I want to try to drive consistently. It'd be cool to break 700 but i'm just not as gung ho about it this week.

Small update here on the status of my build - the car is running like a dream. The process of logging has taken longer than expected, as we needed to do 8 total revisions just for the 91 octane portion of my flex fuel tune. Arizona's poor gas quality is something else... We ended up tapering down boost by almost 5psi and supplemented it with small timing increases to get the map just right, and safe.
We've finished E30, and here's the most recent log after 4 total revisions on E50: https://www.bootmod3.net/log?id=61fe...0b437c875e4748 Even with some solid wheelspin through 3rd gear on an unprepped surface, the acceleration figures on E50 are just incredible. I'm really looking forward to getting to take my car to the dragstrip to see what the limits are, once on E85! A sub 5 second 100-200kph is the goal! |

My results are in running E81 with the stage 1 nostrum setup: 670whp/629wtq
I'm happy with it, but I was hoping for a bit more by the numbers (700ish). I've heard some talk online about DynoDynamics being coined "the heartbreaker dyno" and have seen 'same car, same day' comparisons showing a DynoJet reading roughly ~5-10% higher output figures. Maybe I'll go run my car on one of those to heal my bruised ego. I know with PI I'd likely be making more horsepower for cheaper, but I certainly prefer the reliability aspect of simply beefing up the existing fueling system. Either way, the car is a serious blast to drive. 100% of my passengers have been stunned at how hard she pulls between 4500-7500. It's not often you're feeling ~760+bhp in a 3600lb car. I'm certainly loving it |

No, I'm quite certain I can't hit 130mph in 4th. Any 60-130 testing I've done is by starting at about 30mph in 3rd, then shifting into 4th, and again into 5th. I have traction control fully off, and I always slip bit in 3rd at around 70mph when the car is hitting peak power. The PS4S are great, but I think I'd have better times with a set of 555R2s, etc.

Also doing a 60-130 by starting in 4th sounds kinda crazy to me, but maybe I should try it. 3rd gear tops out around 95mph so I feel like my 60-100mph would be considerably slower by being in a taller gear the entire time |

Arizona seems like a crap state to try and make power. It's already mid-90s by this time in April and our DA has shot up to 3300ft from ~500ft in December. I guess maybe for about 4 months of the year, I've got 700 wheel when the Goldilocks porridge is juuust right |

My results are: 660 whp and 600 wheel torque on 26 PSI. We made over 700 but dialed it back for reliability 94 Mobil pump Pure stage 2+ Wagner tuning charge cooler AA down pipes Mishimoto oil cooler Charge pipes Stock trans DCT Feels like a rocket, but I love driving it slow and hearing the turbo down spool… better then sex |

Not sure what route to go. I'm debating whether I should just do the turbos and hold off the the HPFP till later, or just get it all done at once. I |

Still kicking along! Honestly, i'd do it differently and not do the Pures again since i'm about to have to pull the rear turbo for the 2nd time to send back. At the VERY least I'd do the EU5's with some bigger turbos and give you a tiny bit of headroom. I ordered a set of Mosselman turbos to replace my Pures with and then also had the Dorch lift kit, EU5 and Precision Raceworks Stage 3 brushless lpfp done so I have room for straight E85. Going back to the start, I'd do all the fueling and turbos at once. I've really enjoyed the car at the power levels i've had, but it's such an incremental jump over a hot E-tune on a stock turbo car if you don't do the bigger fueling with the bigger turbos. I haven't finished up this next phase yet, but assuming stock motor I'd do: - Dorch lift kit - EU5's - PR Stage 3 brushless lpfp ... and then i'd make the call to either do a 4N single turbo, Mosselman or maybe Kratos depending on your power goals and budget. Mosselman seem to be perfect for stock motor vehicles, and the others should have more headroom for bigger power. Tuning is a huge factor too and i'd probably have gone Ecutek somewhere here in the middle and working with Bend Calibration. BM3 was great for me in various other stages of the vehicle but even in my initial tuning states w/ Bend the car feels like a big power factory vehicle vs. where it always felt more like a tuner car on BM3. Nothing wrong with that per se, but there's artistry in the subtle aspects of tuning.

What was your issue with the PS2+? Are they common issues or did you just have bad luck? Yeah I guess I'll take my time and go for the whole package, I'm worried I won't feel a big difference if I just did turbos, since I have "fbo" + e85 at the moment. |
