That is one great looking car. Sunburst yellow should have been offered as a standard color instead of Austin yellow. There is a nice 2002 color called Ceylon that is somewhat similar.

Normally I wait until I see the finished product, but I'm officially giving you the "10/10, would bang" stamp of approval. Can't wait to see this thing modded.

Thanks for the photos showing the updates to the Premium Lounge. Looking forward to seeing photos of your car once it gets out in the sun. The way you describe it sounds like the color will really pop once outside and away from the artificial lights.

Background
With fond memories of the Santorini Blue European delivery in the spring of 2013 I found myself traveling to Munich for the second time. Just as before I had spent months milling over individual paint options with BMW David and Steve Thomas BMW. Scouring internet forums and old stock photos of every automotive paint color imaginable I would submit ideas to David weekly. David would then send my requests to BMW individual to see if the colors were available. Some were rejected, some were approved with significant extra cost, and others were approved at the standard $5,000 premium. My final options were Purple Silk Metallic, Telesto Grigio, and Sunburst Gold Metallic. Purple Silk Metallic was BMW’s consolation to the fact that they refused to paint the car Techno Violet and was a color which had already been ordered on other cars. Telesto Grigio, a Lamborghini color, had been ordered several times as well. Which left me with the risky option of Sunburst Gold Metallic which had found its way onto one 2013 E92 individual order which was posted online but seemed to slip into obscurity.

Here is the located and found link to the 2013 E92 individual order complete with photos that arguably show even better the Sunburst Gold Metallic - a post that you referenced as having "seemed to slip into obscurity."

FWIW there appears to be more sunlight coming through the windows in the photos of the E92 giving the Sunburst Gold Metallic more of a brighter gold hue than the somewhat more brownish dulled orange tint seen in the photos inside the Welt.

(By the way, having taken a look at Purple Silk Metallic and Telesto Grigio, your other finalists, I think you did well going with the Sunburst Gold Metallic. IMHO the Purple Silk Metallic could just as well have well been termed "Pimp Purple" and the standard color Mineral Grey Metallic is a much better looking color than the somewhat flat looking grey Telesto Grigio.) Now the individual color that I think we would all like to see would be Ferrari Red.

Anyway, here is the link to the 2013 E92 in Sunburst Gold Metallic:

It's fantastic working with you. Part of your excitement with each order (and mine) is the anticipation in sharing with the BMW community your enthusiasm for the brand. This time it's showcased in a stunning Sunburst Gold M3. Bravo!

I am thrilled for you and wish you many miles of M Power!

Color looks amazing/stunning! Congrats on the pick-up!

Your car was at the exact turn table where I first picked my car up. Definitely a sight to remember/great experience walking down those steps right toward your new baby!

Now THAT is an individual color. Not another shade of boring gray or blue for $5K

Funny.. when I did my second ED this past October, I thought to myself, "the premium lounge is starting to look a bit worn", as it was identical to my trip 4 years prior. Good to know BMW is putting that 2% reduction in ED discount to some good use
It smelled of rich mahogany

Awesome choice of MT.

Although i like the color, but especially with the shot looking down from the balcony, it is kinda weird as the color is fooling my eyes in seeing a Nissan, because this is a Z car color...
Its not the Nissan sunset orange, the paint code is actually unique to BMW...and its a real pain to match for reflectors!

Sometimes they charge more, especially if they have to 'research' the paint code i.e. its never been done before.

Yep, when you do the factory tour you realize how big of a pain it is to stop the line and spray the car with a non standard batch color...$5000 really is a deal because their production figures probably drop drastically the day that the individual cars go through.

I see the Sunburst Gold color option is on the new BMW Individual Color Ordering Guide. I wonder how many will get it? I like it!
