sedan is supposed to be out later this year, coupe will come out early the following year

Only the motor (4.0L biturbo V8) has been confirmed by AMG Chief Tobias Moers.

The verdict is still out on the drivetrain and transmission.

"I had a little chat with Tobias. He confirmed the next C63 is forced induction, but also mentioned eight cylinders. He also confirmed it would be two-wheel drive and have the electronic LSD seen on the SLS Black Series. Sounds like a complete weapon."

Since the E63 has 550hp, I'm guessing the C63 will be anywhere from 450-500hp . I'm really looking forward to the F80, but man the thought of a twin turbo v8 with 500hp is making me second guess my deposit. They're (jalopnik) also saying the W205 C-class is now the lightest car in the segment....hmmm

Driven lots of AMGs, would never own one. Wish Audi made more RS models. To me AMGs have always felt like they bolted a big engine in the car and added some more plastic and suspension. Even driving there SLS AMG isn't even close to R8 IMO. The Black series c63 is the only car I would drive that does look sick in and out!

Plus new C looks like the new E and the E63 is so ugly in person for a AMG

Well the SLS AMG Black Series smoked the R8 this year and came in second overall for super car of the year.

That car is a serious exercise in engineering.

That's kind of the point I was trying to make.

At first you said the SLS AMG Black wasn't even close to the R8.

Now you're saying the R8 GT is just as fast, if not a bit faster. Keep in mind the AMG is accomplishing its feats with RWD.

They're both incredible cars with world-class performance. Comes down to personal preference.

Black series and R8 are really not in the same category as the M3/4, unless we get a special edition later.

I agree. The SLS BS is a serious beast and actually should be faster than an R8 GT. Pretty impressive numbers.

I've driven both the SLS AMG and the the v10 R8(also the r8 GT but there not comparable) you guys can compare numbers all you want! Have you guys driven both? Then give me your opinion. Why is so many people can say one thing is better than the other when they haven't even driven it?

Man, I LOVE AMG engines...it's just too bad that the rest of the car is such crap. New C class just looks odd, maybe AMG fellas can make it look better but the front of that car is just god awful. Ipad in the center console is just silly...NEXT!

I just know that what ever Mercedes comes out is a craps shoot. Porsche is the only one that comes close to BMW M in there cars. Has anyone actually looked into the development for these cars? M does everything by feel. The M cars are always from the ground up. When has anyone ever driven one of the M3s in a review and hated it in the last 10 year?? I can't think of any. I've had every generation of M3 all the way back to the E30. AMG is the same car as I said before, with suspension, more plastic and a bigger engine. As to where M3 are much more than that.

Doesn't matter anyhow everyone can have there opinion but please don't have one without driving the car first. This isn't politics, these are cars! driving the car speaks for it self.

I wasn't comparing them to the M3/4.

The C63 is the M3/4's most natural competitor, as far as AMGs are concerned.

Please go find a reliable source that says that a C63 is a C350 with some more plastic, a different suspension, and a bigger engine.

I'll save you some time: Don't even look because you won't find it.

Other differences: Transmission, brake rotors, brake calipers, tires, wheels, track width, drivetrain components, height, weight, etc. And that's in addition to a different engine, different exhaust, completely different suspension, and unique body work.

Like BMW M does with M cars, AMG puts quite a bit of research and development into the AMG cars. The engines are built by hand by a single craftsman and the final products usually share very little (aside from doors, glass, etc.) with their standard counterparts.

You can prefer M cars and that's absolutely fine. You're entitled to your opinion. But please don't pretend to be an expert on AMG cars when you throw out statements like the one I quoted above.

I value the M and AMG cars equally as each brand brings something unique to the table with respect to performance and driving dynamics.

Do me a favor turn off the traction control and drive your AMG around the track do the same with the M3 and then we will talk until then it's a moot point.

If you pay my expenses I'll drive down to FL and we can both turn in some lap times in our respective cars and see what happens. Sounds like fun to me, regardless of what happens.
