BMW Advanced Car Eye 2.0

Hello Bimmerpost Community,

I was at BMW of San Antonio today and found an item in their Part dept flyer that caught my eye.

Attached is a picture:

Does anyone on the forum have any info on this system?
Does it even fit the F80 Chassis?

The Blackvue is a great system but I like the fact that this Advanced Car Eye 2.0 can be dealer installed with warranty and that it has a Parking Mode.

Earlier today I confirmed with BMW of SA that it does fit the F80 model but I was curious if anyone has this installed and could give real customer feedback.

Here a link to purchase and a product video link:

The warranty is nice but otherwise the Blackvue is still a much better product. It also has a parking mode (with more options) not to mention it's a far more discrete form factor, has higher resolution, better low light recording, and several more options the BMW one doesn't have. It just costs $20 more from BlackBoxMyCar and I'm betting installation at any decent shop will be way cheaper than dealership install prices.

This ^^^^^ this is one case where OEM is NOT the better way to go vs. aftermarket

Thanks for the advice.
After doing research on the Blackvue vs BMW Advanced Car Eye 2.0, you guys are right the Blackvue has more bells & whistles and is a sleeker looking however both systems have the features I want; mainly to sync with my iPhone & a parking monitoring mode.

From my experience most stereo shops are here today gone tomorrow and the fact that I can have this item dealer installed & a full warranty makes for a better fit with my situation.

Here are some basic product video's I found online. Once I have some first hand experience I'll post a better review and some of my own videos.

I bought a thinkware f770 this past summer, but before that was quite interested in this newer version of the BMW model (previous version has a screen).

I ended up installing the 770 myself, and believe me: I’m probably the least handy person on these boards. I attached the camera to the windscreen pretty much behind the driver’s sun visor. I then ran the cable along the headliner and back into the trunk. It plus into the 12v socket that we have back there. (I wasn’t interested in doing fuse taps or wiring.) Now, that means no parking mode in that it’s only on when driving. For now, I’m fine with that. If I wanted, and from the research I conducted (so I hope I’m right)I could get a Cellink battery, plug THAT into the 12v and plug the camera into the battery. That means the battery is only charging when the battery is running (as that’s the only time that socket gets power, plus for 10 minutes after the engine is cut). Also, I opted against the rear camera because I wasn’t sure about this whole set up to begin with. Now, however, I think I will invest in it (thinkware is modular, unlike blackvue).

Anyway, if I can “install” it (just running cable really), then I’m sure you can.

If this alone doesn't convince OP, nothing will.

Not all BMW accessories are good, don't buy them just because they have a BMW stamp on them

Edit: OP ended up going with the video quality of a $50 Amazon camera, smh

Yea I also dont see why you would go with a crappier model because of installation and warranty issues....

Blackvue also has warranty...
Wiring it into your car is not difficult or a job that requires a crazy specialist to do it. If you really wanted your dealer to do it, they could have done it.
Most people dont ever use their warranty to begin with.

But hey, your money.
