What gap? OEM one should come with thin red double side tape around the edges.

Not the latest ones, BMW ditched the double sided tape and wants you to use Betalink now.

If you are referring to the gap in the middle than yes, it's suppose to be there.

I ordered one for my wife's M3 from getbmwpartscom but it came last week without the red 3M double-sided tape that was included on the CF rear spoiler for my M4. Was I supposed to order this when I ordered the spoiler? Does BMW have a part number for the adhesive?

Gap is supposed to be there. That is a result of the manufacturing process. It is no problem. They quit supplying the 3m tape both on the part and in the box. I ordered tape from amazon and got it next day.

Thanks. I need to install the spoiler, diffuser, and CF door handles... Hopefully this will be an easy install.

I contacted getbmwparts.com and received a reply indicating that BMW no longer uses the double-sided tape and that Betalink is used instead. Apparently, this is in the description of the item, which I apparently didn't read, because the CF spoiler for my M4 came with the 3M tape.

The part number is 82-69-9-408-866, Betalink K1 Adhesive Kit, $38.64.

While searching for information on Betalink, I came across a thread on the M5 forum from 2016 where an owner posted that he had installed the CF rear spoiler on his M5 with the double-sided 3M tape and it was promptly stolen within 48 hours. He bought another one and used Betalink and stated that there's no way that it's coming off. Maybe repeated incidents like this are why BMW went back to Betalink, which is apparently what they used before the 3M double-sided tape, as far back as 2006, maybe longer.

Exactly it ain't coming off without damaging the paint which is why I would never use it. Had many Bmws all with c.f. add-ons affixed with 3m tape.

Never had any come off and never had any stolen.

If they want the Fukin thing they can have it that's what insurance is for...

Your deductible is probably more than the cost of a CF spoiler, so your insurance isn't going to matter, you'll still have to pay for another spoiler.

My Ded is $250 Spoiler is $479 b4 shipping

I have no problem taking the risk of being able to remove the spoiler cleanly using fishing line vs. prying it off & damaging my paint

People don't steal body parts off cars in the area I live

I had the dealer install the spoiler on my F80 on 12/17. I unboxed it and had no double-sided tape.

i guess the gap OP is referring to is that the spoiler is hollow and not a solid piece. Not necessary.

I asked the dealership for the installation quotes and quoted me $1000 for installing CS CF lip, spoiler and rear diffuser...

Me either. But then I actually drive my car outside my neighborhood. Too bad you're stuck at home. And why would you pry it off if you've already installed it?

Wow. Well, the CS lip is pretty involved from what I've seen. The diffuser you can do yourself. Very easy. Try calling another dealer or two.

That's what I call a "go away" quote. They don't want to do it.

Evidently from what I'm told, so take it with a grain of salt, from the guys at the dealer. M4 still uses tape, M3 spoiler uses the liquid adhesive. Not sure why there is a difference between the two. But mine came with 2 boxes. Spoiler, and the liquid adhesive.
